SPIRO â In a battle of unbeatens Friday night at McClain Stadium, the Spiro Bulldogs got past the Roland Rangers 32-21 in the District 3A-8 opener for both teams.
After trending by 11 at halftime, the Bulldogs (4-0 overall, 1-0 in district play) exploded with 20 second-half points and shut out the Rangers (3-1, 0-1) in the final half.
TALIHINA â In the past couple of seasons, the Talihina-Savanna game has been a tight one, and has had its hand in determining the District A-6 champion. It probably did so again Friday night at Doc Robinson Stadium, but it was anything but tight.
The Golden Tigers scored the gameâs first 34 points en route to a 66-14 rout of the Bulldogs.

The Tigers beat the Braves 8-0, and needed to only beat the Braves once Friday to win the district title and advance to next week's regional tournament. The Braves had to beat the Tigers twice on Friday to make it to the regional as district champion.

Trailing 1-0 after an inning, the Lady Bulldogs scored four runs in the second inning for a 4-1 lead.
After the Lady Indians cut the deficit to 4-3 after three innings, Spiro scored four runs in the fifth and sixth innings to put the game into run-rule status.
Something will have to give tonight when the Spiro Bulldogs entertain the Roland Rangers for the District 3A-8 opener at 7 p.m. at McClain Stadium. Both teams enter at 3-0.
âWeâre looking forward to it,â Spiro coach Chris Bunch said. âItâs a big game. I expect a packed house. Itâs our first district game. A loss will probably make you end up second or third, maybe fourth. We canât afford to have a loss.â
The Bulldogs have beaten Stilwell (47-40), Muldrow (35-14) and Haskell (42-28). Still, Bunch believes his team has yet to put it all together.
