Two LeFlore County baseball players, Poteau’s Ben Klutts and Wister’s Scotty Gibson, will get to be a part of history as they will get to play in the first-ever Oklahoma State Games next week at Oklahoma State University’s Allie P. Reynolds Stadium in Stillwater. They will be joined by Red Oak’s Lane Grogan and Cody Muncy.
The four local players will be part of the Southeast team that will play three games over two days. The Southeast team will play the Oklahoma City team at 7:15 p.m. Tuesday, then play twice on Wednesday — vs. the Tulsa team at 11:30 a.m. and the Southwest team at 7:15 p.m.
Jeff Rogers and Perry Reed of McClain Surveying and Josh Munoz and Dana Scott of First National Bank were the winning foursome in Monday’s Poteau Chamber of Commerce Golf Tournament that took place at Wolf Ridge Country Club.
It looked like the only Arkoma Lady Mustang graduating senior who was going to play hoops at the next level was Tiera Brumfield, who signed with Eastern Oklahoma State College earlier this year. However, that all changed Monday morning.
Arkoma guard Shaylea Whisenhunt signed a letter of intent with Murray State College, located in Tishomingo, in a signing ceremony inside the Arkoma Gym.

Shore is one of four LeFlore County athletes as well as a Red Oak Lady Eagle to make All-State teams — all doing so in basketball.
