HEAVENER — For the last several fast-pitch seasons, Heavener Lady Wolves fans, and LeFlore County fans, have seen Logan Hinds be one of the dominant pitchers in the softball circle. This slow-pitch season, fans will see the Heavener senior in the outfield.
Next season, fans will likely see her do both for the Carl Albert Lady Vikings as Hinds signed a letter of intent with CASC Friday afternoon inside the Heavener High School library.
WILBURTON — When the Howe Lady Lions and the Talihina Lady Golden Tigers met Jan. 21 at the Spiro Gym in the finals of the 80th LeFlore County Tournament, Howe prevailed 31-27 in the lowest-scoring girls title game in nearly three decades.
When they met Friday afternoon in the consolation semifinals of the Class 2A Area Tournament at the new Wilburton High School Gym, there was more scoring than the county title game. But fortunately for the Lady Lions — and unfortunately for the Lady Golden Tigers — the outcome was the same.
FORT GIBSON — The basketball seasons came to an end for the Spiro High School teams at the Class 3A Area Tournament.
Friday afternoon, the Bulldogs lost 64-55 to the Tulsa Victory Christian Conquerors in the consolation semifinals. The ’Dogs end the season at 18-9.
The hopes of making it back to the Class 3A State Tournament for the Spiro Lady Bulldogs were dashed by the Wilburton Lady Diggers, who beat them 41-34 Thursday night.
Spiro's girls end the season at 14-11.
WILBURTON — Thanks to a win by the Howe Lady Lions Thursday night in the Class 2A Area Tournament at the new Wilburton High School Gym, it set up a rematch of the 2012 LeFlore County Tournament finals.
The Lady Lions defeated the Sallisaw-Central Lady Tigers 45-30 to reach Friday afternoon's consolation semifinals — and second contest against the Talihina Lady Golden Tigers, who lost 31-27 to the Lady Lions in the County Tournament title game in January.
The luck was not as good for the Wister Wildcats, who lost 45-40 to the Porter Consolidated Pirates to see their season end at 19-9.
