WILBURTON â For the most part, it was a successful night of hoops for LeFlore County teams on Day 2 of the Eastern Oklahoma State College Classic.
In the gold girls bracket, the Arkoma Lady Mustangs got pastr the Buffalo Valley Lady Buffaloes 42-39 Tuesday afternoon at the Wilburton High School Gym, but the Leflore Lady Savages fell 64-6 to the Red Oak Lady Eagles at EOSC's Claud C. Dunlap Fieldhouse.
In the blue girls bracket, the Bokoshe Lady Tigers handled the Haileyville Lady Warriors 48-16 Tuesday night at the WHS Gym.
TULSA â The Tulsa Golden Hurricane football team has not lost back-to-back games this season, and did not want to have happen last weekend as it entertained the Central Florida Knights for the second time in three weeks at Skelly Field at H.A. Chapman Stadium. However, Saturday's meeting was for all the marbles â the 2012 Conference USA championship.
WILBURTON â The phrase, âmiraculous comeback,â is heard quite often in the world of sports. The Leflore Savages basketball team experienced one Monday at the Eastern Oklahoma State College Classic at EOSC's Claud C. Dunlap Fieldhouse.
Down 44-31 entering the final period against the Battiest Panthers, the Savages outscored them 24-9 in the fourth quarter to snatch a 55-53 win away from Battiest to advance to the championship semifinals of the gold bracket.
The Spiro High School basketball teams did not have much of a rest after tonight's season openers at Eufaula as they will begin their three-day stay at the H.B. Stewart Classic in Greenwood, Ark., Wednesday afternoon.
Spiro will play Siloam Springs, Ark., at 4 (girls) and 5:30 p.m. (boys) Wednesday afternoon, then play host Greenwood at 7 (girls) and 8:30 p.m. (boys) Thursday night. The Lady Bulldogs will end their three-day stay with a 4 p.m. Friday game against Ozark, Ark., followed by the âDogs' contest against Ozark at 5:30 p.m.
