ATOKA — The Talihina Golden Tigers baseball team split its two games in the rain-shortened Atoka Wood Bat Tournament last weekend.
The Golden Tigers edged the Calera Bulldogs 8-7, but lost 8-4 to Silo Rebels.
Spiro 11, Locust Grove 3: Sunday night at Arvest Park in Springdale, Ark., the Bulldogs, who suffered a heart-breaking 10-9, nine-inning loss to Poteau in the finals of the 32nd LeFlore County Baseball Tournament earlier in the day in Cameron,, took out their frustrations on Locust Grove’s Pirates.
One county tournament down, one to go. The LeFlore County Slow-Pitch Tournament started Monday, but because there are only nine teams, the tournament's title game will take place at 7:30 tonight at the Poteau Area Recreational Complex.
If the Poteau Lady Pirates, who are the top seed this spring, win it, it will mark a rarity in that the same school won the three major girls county tournaments. Poteau won the fast-pitch title in September, and captured the basketball county title in January.
