My truck gets toilet papered, investigation begins

October 18, 2012

My beautiful, gun-metal silver Chevrolet Z-71 truck was violated last Friday night. It had toilet paper all over, and under, it.
During my ongoing investigation with Randall Latham, “The Foothills Neighborhood Watch” president, surveillance video of the “criminals” has been discovered — Kenzie Newman.
Get this. Kenzie's grandmother, Linda Newman, was driving the getaway vehicle. What's the town of Poteau coming to when grandmothers are committing violent acts to people's trucks?
Go Bandit League teams, beat Greenwood (Ark.) White
Go Pokes, beat Iowa State.

Poteau freshmen complete perfect season; PKMS teams suffer losses to McAlester

October 18, 2012

The current Poteau Pirates freshmen football team entered Tuesday night's regular-season finale at Costner Stadium needing a win over the McAlester Buffaloes to complete a perfect 8-0 season, and complete a three-year undefeated stretch in which it went 22-0. The Pirates didn't disappoint their fans.
The Pirates scored on the opening drive and their defense had the bend-but-don't-break philosophy to keep the Buffaloes out of the end zone, as Poteau posted a 22-0 victory.

October 17, 2012

POCOLA — Last week, the Pocola Indians suffered a 40-0 loss to the Hartshorne Miners. While the game did not eliminate the Indians from the playoff hunt in Class 2A, they are in must-win situations tonight and next week.
The Indians (4-3 overall, 2-2 in District 2A-6) will need to win Thursday night against Antlers and next week in their rivalry game at Panama to get at least third place in the district — and a playoff berth. Tonight's game with the Bearcats will begin at 7:30 p.m. at John Carter Field.

Senior defensive lineman ready for stretch drive of football season, prep career

October 17, 2012

It's hard to come to the realization that things are about to end. Take a football career, for instance. Players such as Troy Aikman, Phil Simms and Chris Collinsworth, who are now National Football League analysts, probably hated to have to hang up their uniforms after their NFL careers ended.
One Poteau Pirate senior player probably knows that feeling. Senior defensive lineman Zack Hall is ready to end his prep career on a high note, which would be making the playoffs.
