FORT GIBSON â€” The Poteau Lady Pirates suffered their first playoff loss of the season Thursday night, falling 61-47 to the host Fort Gibson Lady Tigers in the Class 4A Regional Tournament.
The Lady Pirates (17-8) played Hilldale on Friday night in the consolation semifinals of the regional tournament, with the winner playing for the consolation championship at 1:30 this afternoon for the right to advance to next week's Class 4A Area Tournament at the Muskogee Civic Center.
WILBURTON â€” All that matters is who leads at the end of the game. Just ask the Spiro Bulldogs.
After trailing for the first 30 minutes of action in Thursday nightâ€™s Class 3A Regional Tournament game against the Antlers Bearcats, the Bulldogs grabbed the lead in the final two minutes of regulation to pull out a 56-53 victory.
The â€™Dogs (18-7) will play the Hugo Buffaloes at 8 p.m. Saturday in Antlers for the regional title, but both teams will advance to next weekâ€™s Class 3A Area Tournament at Byng High Schoolâ€™s Bill Kohler Fieldhouse.
MUSKOGEE â€” The Heavener Lady Wolves did not let Thursdayâ€™s cancelation of the Class 3A Regional Tournament at the Muskogee Civic Center bother them when they finally got to resume postseason play Friday afternoon.
The Lady Wolves stayed alive in the playoffs with a 52-42 win over the Wyandotte Lady Bears to reach this afternoonâ€™s consolation semifinals. Heavener will face the loser of Friday nightâ€™s Verdigris-Vian game at 1:30 this afternoon, with the winner playing for the consolation championship â€” and a trip to next weekâ€™s Class 3A Area Tournament at Fort Gibson â€” at 1:30 p.m. Monday.
PANAMA â€” The Panama Lady Razorbacks basketball team knew when the Class 2A Regional Tournament began Thursday afternoon it needed to win three games in three days to make it to next week's area tournament in Wilburton. Win one is in the books.
The Lady Razorbacks (15-9) will play the loser of Thursday night's Talihina-Savanna game at 6:30 tonight on Chris Gillespie Court at Ray Henson Gymnasium in Talihina in the consolation semifinals. Tonight's winner will play at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in Talihina for the consolation championship, and a trip to the Class 2A Area Tournament.
CROWDER â€” Two LeFlore County basketball teams, the Howe Lions and the Wister Lady Wildcats kept their seasons alive â€” at least for one more day â€” at the Class 2A Regional Tournament.
The Lions held off the Porter Consolidated Pirates 51-49, while a fourth-quarter rally lifted the Lady â€™Cats to a 50-44 win over the host Crowder Demonettes.
WILBURTON â€” The Spiro Lady Bulldogs basketball team made sure there was going to be at least one more night to the 2012-13 season.
The Lady Bulldogs got past the Coalgate Lady Wildcats 44-34 on Thursday afternoon in the Class 3A Regional Tournament at the Wilburton High School gym.
The Lady Bulldogs (13-12) will play the loser of Thursday night's Hugo-Davis game at 6:30 tonight in Antlers in the consolation semifinals, with that winner playing for the consolation championship at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in Antlers.

The Pirates held off a fourth-quarter rally by the Jay Bulldogs to earn a 56-51 victory Thursday afternoon at the Class 4A Regional Tournament.
The Pirates (13-12) will play at 3 p.m. Friday in Fort Gibson in the consolation semifinals against the loser of Thursday night's Inola-Muldrow game. That winner will play for the consolation championship, and a trip to the Class 4A Area Tournament next week at the Muskogee Civic Center, at 3 p.m. Saturday.
The Carl Albert State College baseball team will head south of the border for a three-game series with Tyler (Texas) Junior College, beginning tonight.
The Vikings (4-1), who lost their first game of the season Saturday afternoon to Jefferson College, Mo., at Ival Goodman Field, will play Game 1 of the three-game series beginning at 7 tonight. It will be a single, nine-inning game.
Then, the two teams will play a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m. Saturday.
Four Poteau Pirate wrestlers will get the chance to win state titles this weekend at the Class 4A State Tournament, which will take place Friday and Saturday at Oklahoma City's State Fair Arena.
For three of them, Devin Anderson (120 pounds), Derek Francis (170) and Gabe Sanchez (195), they will be making their first-ever appearances at state.
Senior Tyler Tustin will try to three-peat as state champion at 138 pounds, and believes that he is performing his best now than ever before.
The second tournament of the LeFlore County Bass Club's 2013 circuit took place Sunday at Chicken Creek on Lake Tenkiller. There were 41 boats, filled with anglers who caught 112 fish that had a total weight of 322.41 pounds. Each fish had an average weight of 2.88 pounds, and 14 limits were caught â€” with five of the 112 fish caught weighing more than five pounds.
