Poteau senior softball players want different end to season than in 2011

October 3, 2012

In the 2011 fast-pitch softball season, the Poteau Lady Pirates were the host team for a Class 4A Regional Tournament. They ended up losing in the championship round to see their season end. For almost a year, that feeling has not been forgotten by the Lady Pirates.
“It gave us drive and want-to to not have it end like it did last year,” senior right fielder Gabba Wilson said. “We had run ruled them, then they beat us (in the regional title game) and that upset us. We're determined that it's not going to happen this year.”

While there's no sit-com in this LeFlore County community, there is a family connection with the Panama Lady Razorbacks softball team.

Talihina football team returns to District A-6 play, welcomes Sallisaw-Central for homecoming

October 3, 2012

Being in a district that is not an eight-team district, like seven-team District A-6 featuring the Talihina Golden Tigers, it means that there's a choice of two things. One choice is to have an open date, and the other is to find a non-district opponent to fill the void.
The Golden Tigers did not want to have an off week, so last Friday night they welcomed Union Christian Academy from Fort Smith, Ark., to Doc Robinson Stadium — and routed the visitors 55-6.

OKC Thunder has higher expectations for this season

October 3, 2012

OKLAHOMA CITY — The 2012-13 season for the Oklahoma City Thunder is almost upon us. Each year, it seems, the Thunder have just a bit more of an expectation put on them by the fans — and by themselves — to take that step closer to an NBA Championship — probably none more than this year.
