HOWE â€” The Howe Lions will enter this week's Wister tournament on a high note as they handled the Arkoma Mustangs 13-1 in three innings Monday afternoon at Lions Field.
Pocola 11, Cameron 5: In Pocola, the Indians, who trailed 5-2 in the sixth inning, scored nine runs in the frame to snatch the win away from the Yellowjackets.
Talihina 9, Kiowa 3: In Talihina, the Golden Tigers, who trailed 2-0 after an inning, scored three runs in the first inning, a run in the second inning, four runs in the third inning and a run in the fourth inning for a 9-2 lead.
HEAVENER â€” In February, Heavener High School football players Blake Smittle and Aaron Turner signed to play with Northeastern Oklahoma A&M. Tuesday morning in a ceremony inside the high school gym, a third HHS senior signed to play college ball.
Basketball senior Trevor Smith signed his letter of intent with the Carl Albert State College Vikings.

The Poteau Lady Pirates and the Pocola Lady Indians were seeded No. 1 and 2, respectively, in last monthâ€™s seeding meeting. Going into Tuesday nightâ€™s title game, the seeding held true.
The Lady Pirates and the Lady Indians played in late Tuesday afternoonâ€™s winnerâ€™s bracket final at the Poteau Area Recreational Complex to see who played for the county title later that night.
The Lady Pirates handled Howe 14-0, then beat Heavener 4-0 on Day 1 on Monday at the PARC to make it to within two wins of another county slow-pitch title.
GORE â€” The Panama Lady Razorbacks will enter this week's LeFlore County Tournament with a second-place finish.
The Lady Razorbacks lost 7-6 to the Keota Lady Lions in the title game.
Panama opened the tournament with wins over Sallisaw-Central 10-0 and Wilburton 10-7, but lost to Keota in the 7-5 before beating Heavener 8-2.
Heavener went 3-2 in the two-day event. Before losing to Panama on Saturday, Heavener beat Porum 7-3, Sallisaw-Central 17-1 and Wilburton 16-10, but lost 15-7 to Keota.
WASHINGTON, Okla. â€” The Pocola Lady Indians softball team went 1-2 on Saturday at the Washington Tournament.
The Lady Indians beat Lindsay 11-4, but lost 9-4 to Moore and 10-2 to Mangum.
