SE team suffers one-run losses to Tulsa, NW squads at Oklahoma State Games

The Southeast Area team lost a pair of close games Wednesday as the inaugural Oklahoma State Games came to a close at Allie P. Reynolds Stadium on the campus of Oklahoma State University in Stillwater. The Southeast team, which featured Poteau’s Ben Klutts, Wister’s Scotty Gibson and Red Oak’s Lane Grogan and Cody Muncy, dropped a 6-5 decision to Tulsa and then 2-1 to Northwest in the finale.
The Southeast team led both games going into the seventh, leading 5-2 against Tulsa and 1-0 against Northwest, but couldn’t hold on for a victory.

Local players help Southeast nip OKC in Oklahoma State Games

The first baseball edition of the Oklahoma State Games finished with a solid performance by two LeFlore County locals that played a part in Southeast’s 6-5 victory over the Oklahoma City Area Team Tuesday night at Oklahoma State University’s Allie P. Reynolds Stadium in Stillwater.

CASC softball team among NJCAA Academic Teams of the Year; two Lady Vikings athletes named Superior Academic All-American, with two others garnering Exemplary Academic All-American honors

The Carl Albert State College athletic program saw one team and four individuals receive high honors from the National Junior College Athletic Association.
The Lady Vikings softball team was among those junior colleges in the country named as Academic Teams of the Year for having a cumulative grade-point average of 3.0 or better. The Lady Vikings' cumulative GPA was 3.27.

Local baseball players to take part in first-ever Oklahoma State Games; Poteau’s Klutts, Wister’s Gibson, Red Oak duo will play three games over Tuesday, Wednesday at OSU

Two LeFlore County baseball players, Poteau’s Ben Klutts and Wister’s Scotty Gibson, will get to be a part of history as they will get to play in the first-ever Oklahoma State Games next week at Oklahoma State University’s Allie P. Reynolds Stadium in Stillwater. They will be joined by Red Oak’s Lane Grogan and Cody Muncy.
The four local players will be part of the Southeast team that will play three games over two days. The Southeast team will play the Oklahoma City team at 7:15 p.m. Tuesday, then play twice on Wednesday — vs. the Tulsa team at 11:30 a.m. and the Southwest team at 7:15 p.m.
