LeFlore County will have at least one basketball All-Stater this season. Talihina's Landry James was named to the Small East team for the 2012 Oklahoma Girls Basketball Coaches Association All-State Games, which will be June 2 at Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford.
“I couldn't be happier for her,” Talihina Girls Coach Jeff Oliver said. “I thought one of the three (James, Krissy Houston and Chelsea Baggs) had a shot. At the tryouts, Landry just shined. I'm thrilled to death for her.”

I hope everyone enjoyed Spring Break, because now that it's over it means pretty much non-stop baseball and slow-pitch softball from here out.
This week is the Wister Tournament (its bracket will be in Thursday's edition) is this weekend. The Crowder Tournament for Cameron and Panama will begin Wednesday.
This week for softball will be the Red Oak Tournament, which will have Poteau, Cameron, Howe and Panama representing LeFlore County, Heavener's girls will be at the Gore Tournament and Talihina's girls will be in the Hartshorne Festival.
The Poteau Lady Pirates softball team began the post-Spring Break portion of their season in fine fashion Monday afternoon as they run ruled the Pocola Lady Indians 9-0.
Just as the sunshine at the end of last week's Spring Break was much welcomed, so, too, was a Poteau Pirate baseball team victory in the final game of the 2012 Poteau Wood Bat Tournament.
The Pirates defeated the Sallisaw-Central Tigers 11-5 Saturday afternoon at Town Creek Park in the final game of this year's event.
CAMERON — The two LeFlore County baseball teams, the Cameron Yellowjackets and the Panama Razorbacks, who were at this site of the 2012 Poteau Wood Bat Festival both split their two games in which they played.
The ’Jackets defeated Moss 5-1 Friday afternoon, but lost by the same score Saturday afternoon to Fort Smith (Ark.) Northside.
Both of the Hogs' games were Friday. They run ruled Haileyville 15-0, but then were run ruled themselves 12-2 by Sallisaw-Central.
SPIRO — Spring Break's rain didn't totally wash out the 2012 Class 3A Preview this past weekend. One game got played, and the host Spiro Bulldogs got themselves a win.
The ’Dogs jumped out to an early lead and rode the advantage to a 10-2 victory over the Haskell Haymakers Saturday afternoon.
DALE — Last spring, the Wister Wildcats defeated the Dale Pirates to win the Class 2A State Tournament.
In a match-up Saturday afternoon between the same two teams which came about due to the Union City Festival being rained out Thursday and Friday, the Pirates avenged that loss — and in a big way.
The combination of a fast start and four Wister errors, the Pirates ended up run ruling the ’Cats 12-0.
MIDWEST CITY — It was a happy weekend for the Carl Albert State College baseball team. The Vikings posted a doubleheader sweep of Rose State College by scores of 4-1 and 6-5 on Saturday afternoon.
The same two teams will play a doubleheader beginning at 1:30 p.m. this afternoon at Ival Goodman Field. It begins three straight days of action for the Vikings, who will play the Bacone College junior varsity in a home twinbill at 1 p.m. Wednesday followed by a 1:30 p.m. doubleheader Thursday against Seminole State College.
