We’ll be in full-blown high school basketball playoff mode beginning on Thursday as the 23 remaining LeFlore County teams will be in postseason mode. Class A and B regional tournaments will begin on Thursday, loser’s-bracket action in the afternoon and winner’s-bracket contests at night.

Alan Callahan is the lucky individual who won the first-ever grand prize package for the Poteau Daily News’ Pigskin Picks Contest, which was awarded this year for the first time.
Callahan was selected based upon having the most wins during the season, seven. That was two more than Robert Swinford, who had five.
Callahan’s grand prize was a $50 check and a gift certificate at Geno’s Pizza.
The Poteau Daily News will return with an even bigger Pigskin Picks Contest package for the 2015 season, which will begin in late August/early September. Look for details as the season gets closer.
