CAMERON â€” The Howe Lions got their first fall baseball win of the season as they roared past the Cameron Yellowjackets 14-6 in a game ended by run rule after five innings.
The â€™Jackets had a 4-3 lead after two innings, but the Lions scored four runs in the third inning to take a 7-4 lead, which they never lost.
The Arkoma Mustangs football team has some questions it needs to answer, and coach Mark Weatherton said several â€” if not all of them â€” will hoped to be answered in Thursday night's six-way scrimmage against host Midway, Tulsa Regent Prep and three of Arkoma's District B-4 foes, Keota, Porum and Wetumka. Action at Midway High School in Council Hill, northwest of Checotah, will begin at 7 p.m.
The Spiro Bulldogs will get their first taste of game-like situations Thursday night when they participate in a six-way scrimmage at Okmulgee along with four Tulsa Schools â€” Hale, McLain, Rogers and Webster. The junior varsity part of the scrimmage will be at 6 p.m., with the varsity portion of the scrimmage at about 7 p.m.
After graduation hit the Talihina Golden Tigers pretty hard last spring, the Golden Tigers are trying to find those players replacements. They hope to do so in Thursday night's road scrimmage against the homestanding Valliant Bulldogs at 6:30 p.m.
Three LeFlore County softball teams, Poteau, Heavener and Wister, will represent the county at the Oktaha Tournament, which will take place Thursday, take a day off Friday and conclude on Saturday.
The Lady Pirates will face the host Lady Tigers at 11:20 a.m. Thursday, then meet the Stilwell Lady Indians at 12:45 p.m.
The Lady Wolves will meet the Sequoyah-Tahlequah junior varsity at 11:20 a.m. Thursday, followed by a 12:45 p.m. game against Warner.
The Lady Wildcats will face Vian at 2 p.m. Thursday and Sallisaw-Central at 3:20 p.m.
WISTER â€” Kyla Brown's RBI double scored Hunter Gibson in the seventh inning to break a tie to give the Wister Lady Wildcats a 2-1 victory over the Poteau Lady Pirates on Monday afternoon.
Pocola 10, Arkoma 1: In Pocola, the Lady Indians jumped out to a 2-0 lead after an inning and had a 3-0 advantage after two.
Cameron 9, Panama 8, 8 inn.: In Cameron, the Lady Yellowjackets scored twice in the eighth to snatch the win away from the Lady Razorbacks, who took a 8-7 lead in the top of the inning.
HOWE â€” The Wister Wildcats got their second and third victories over Howe this season as they swept the Lions 18-1 and 12-1 Monday afternoon at Lions Field.
Cameron 13, McCurtain 12; McCurtain 15, Cameron 12: In Cameron, the Yellowjackets (1-2) split their home openers on Monday, with Cameron taking the nightcap after the Bulldogs won the opener.
Leflore 8, Pittsburg 3: in Pittsburg, the Savages (2-3) rallied from a 3-0 third-inning deficit by tying the game with a three-run fourth inning.
