Faith Community Nazarene Church is getting ready for this year’s Upward Sports basketball and cheerleading league.
Saturday will be the final day to register for either or both leagues. Registration will take place in hour-long sessions on Saturday morning inside the Pansy Kidd Middle School Gym. The kindergarten 4s and 5s will register from 9 to 10 a.m., followed by the first- through third-graders from 10 to 11 a.m. and the fourth- through sixth-graders from 11 a.m. to noon.

Poteau teams split home contests with Muldrow on Tuesday night

The Poteau High School basketball teams split their home games Tuesday night with Muldrow. The Pirates made the Bulldogs walk the plank in a 60-42 victory, but the Lady Bulldogs downed the Lady Pirates 49-40.

WISTER — The Wister Wildcats picked up a home win Tuesday night, downing the Arkoma Mustangs 65-47
The Wildcats broke a 21-all halftime tie by outscoring the Mustangs 21-10 in the third quarter to take a 42-31 lead into the final period.
Howe 63, Panama 50: In Howe, the Lions jumped out to a 13-9 lead after a period en route to a 28-20 halftime advantage and a 46-37 lead going into the final quarter.

HOWE — The Howe Lady Lions stayed perfect on the season Tuesday night with a 78-33 victory over the Panama Lady Razorbacks at the Howe Gym.
The Lady Lions led 16-10 after a period, but they outscored the Lady ’Backs 22-12 in the second quarter to take a 38-22 halftime lead en route to a 57-26 advantage going into the final period.
Arkoma 71, Wister 35: In Wister, the Lady Mustangs jumped out to a 27-8 lead after a period and never looked back.

Local wrestlers place in McAlester Tournament

McALESTER — Six local high school wrestlers placed in last weekend’s McAlester Tournament, which took place Friday and Saturday at Brumley Gym.
Four of the six were Pirates, with two of them winning titles — Sam Shore (152 pounds) and Jake Sheehan (160).
Poteau’s Roderick Hornbuckle was runner-up at 145 pounds, while Zach Baker was fourth at 170 pounds.
Two Talihina wrestlers placed as well. Domnick Shedd was third at 195 pounds, while Logan Hillebrand was fourth at heavyweight.

Cameron teams split home games with Cave Springs

CAMERON — The Cameron High School basketball teams split their Monday night home games with Cave Springs. The Lady Yellowjackets got a 53-28 victory over the Lady Hornets, but the Hornets stung the ’Jackets 48-46.
In the girls' game, the Lady Yellowjackets led 9-6 after a period and continually stretched their advantage from there. Cameron led 28-16 at halftime and doubled Cave Springs' output by the third quarter as the Lady ’Jackets led 42-21 going into the final period.

Quinton teams sweep Bokoshe

BOKOSHE — The Bokoshe High School basketball teams saw their week get off on a sour note Monday night at Bokoshe Tigers Fieldhouse as they suffered losses from their Highway 31 rivals from Quinton.
The Lady Savages handled the Lady Tigers 67-30, then the Savages defeated the Tigers 83-55.
In the girls' contest, the Lady Savages jumped out to a 17-4 lead and never looked back.
In the boys' game, the Savages jumped out to a 25-11 lead after a period en route to a 47-22 halftime advantage and a 69-37 lead heading into the final period.

CASC teams take two home games from Murray State on Monday night

Getting a season-high of 22 points from Talihina's Tara Hawkins proved to be the difference for the Carl Albert State College Lady Vikings in their 74-56 win over the Murray State College Lady Aggies on Monday night at Mick Thompson Fieldhouse.
Behind 55.9-percent shooting from the field and Mairega Clark's 22 points and 10 rebounds, the Vikings won 92-84 over the Aggies.
The CASC teams will return to action Thursday night for road games against Northern Oklahoma College-Enid at the Mabee Center. The women's game will begin at 6 p.m., followed by the men's contest at 8 p.m.
