Oil Capital Racing Series Card No. 2 takes place tonight at Tri-State Speedway

POCOLA — The Oil Capital Racing Series sprint cars return for Round 2 of 3 in the 2014 season tonight at Tri-State Speedway.
Also, there will be the return of Economy/360 Modifieds, Mini-Stocks and Front Wheel Drives.
Ticket prices are $15 for adults, $13 for seniors ages 65 and older and children ages 6 to 11 are $5. Admission is free for children ages 5 and younger and all military (past or present with government indentification)
Pit gates will open at 4 p.m. with the grandstands opening at 5 p.m. Hot laps start at 7 p.m. with racing at 7:30 p.m.

Local soccer players participate in Class 4A All-State Game

MUSKOGEE — Three LeFlore County high school soccer players, Poteau's Kendrick Hardaway and Heavener's Miguel Alcantar and Rogelio Serrano, played in Thursday night's Class 4A All-State Game at Creek Nation Field at Indian Bowl, and were on the winning team as the East beat the West 3-2.
Hardaway scored the East's first goal with 31.6 seconds left before halftime to cut the West's lead to 2-1.
Alcantar assisted on the game-winning goal coming with 13:20 left in the game to break a 2-all tie.
Serrano did not score not have an assist in the game.

Local basketball trio to be in Indian All-State Game on Saturday night

Three LeFlore County girls basketball players will play perhaps their final competitive basketball games of their careers Saturday night.
Poteau's Montana Roll, Cameron's Kacey McGee and Panama's Summer Stockton will play in the Indian All-State Game at 6 p.m. Saturday at Oklahoma Wesleyan University in Bartlesville.
One other local player, Keota's Casey Marshall, made the second team of the 2014 Indian All-State Team, and she will be an alternate and get to play in the game should someone not be able to play.

Two local slow-pitch softballers to be in All-State Games on Saturday

Two LeFlore County high school softball players, Heavener’s Savannah Steelman and Pocola’s Taylor Farley, will participate in their final competitive slow-pitch games of their careers Saturday afternoon as they will be in the 2014 Oklahoma Slow-Pitch Softball Coaches Association All-State Games at the University of Oklahoma.
Farley will be on the East team in the Middle School All-State Game at 1 p.m.
Steelman will be on the East team in the Large School All-State Game at 3 p.m.

The Wolf Ridge Junior Golf Clinic will take place every Wednesday for the next three Wednesdays at Wolf Ridge Country Club.
The clinic is open to youth ages 5 and older.
The clinic for ages 5 to 17 will be from 4 to 5 p.m. every Wednesday for the next four weeks. Cost is $10 per golfer per session.
The clinic for ages 18 and older will be from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. every Wednesday for four weeks. Cost is $20 per golfer per session.

Rogers, Rowton win 'Hooked on Fishin'' Tournament

The 10th annual “Hooked on Fishin'” Tournament took place Saturday at Long Lake Resort. There were 44 boats with youth who caught 93 fish that weighed a composite 168.83 pounds. Each fish caught averaged 1.82 pounds, but only five limits were caught.
In the age 8 to 12 division, Isaac Rogers won the title with an even 13 pounds, followed by Shea Brown (9.05 pounds), Wyatt Holt (8.86), Jacques Adams (8.45) and Connor Maxwell (8.33). Amber Taylor had the big bass winner for the division with a 4.59-pound lunker.
