CASC baseball team splits home contests with Seminole State; Vikings welcome Highland, Kan., to town for four-game weekend series starting Friday afternoon

The Carl Albert State College Vikings baseball team split its home games with Seminole State on Tuesday afternoon at Ival Goodman Field. Each team won 9-3 contests, with CASC's win coming in the nightcap.

Heavener tracksters do well at last weekend's Enid indoor meet

ENID — Several Heavener High School track athletes did well at last weekend's Enid Invitational indoor track meet at the Chisholm Trail Expo Center.

The LeFlore County Soccer Association will have a coaches meeting Tuesday.
Practices will start the week of Feb. 19, with games starting Feb. 28.

The second annual Hungry Like the Wolf 5k/10k fun run/walk and two-mile walk will take place beginning at noon Feb. 21 at Blues Park in Heavener. Race-day registration and packet pick-up will be from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m.
Packets may also be picked up from 3 to 4 p.m. Friday at Heavener High School.
The entry fee is $20 per runner until Friday. From Saturday until race day, the entry fee increases to $25 per runner.

Poteau teams split road games with Sallisaw

Despite not having leading scorer Sequoyah Sanders, who suffered an ankle injury in Friday night’s game at Muldrow, the Poteau Pirates were still able to pull off a road victory, beating the Sallisaw Black Diamonds 48-36 Tuesday night in Sallisaw to get the season sweep.
The good news for the Lady Pirates was they played a better game against the Lady Black Diamonds than the first meeting last month at Sherman Floyd Fieldhouse. The not-so-good news was they still fell short of a road win, falling 47-43.

HEAVENER — The Heavener Lady Wolves proved to be too much to handle Tuesday night for the Pocola Lady Indians as the home team posted a 54-33 victory at the Heavener Gym.
The Lady Wolves jumped out to a 14-6 lead after a period to take control of the game.
Bokoshe JV 45, Keota 34: Monday night in Keota, the Lady Tigers’ junior varsity, which trailed 22-16 at halftime, outscored the Lady Lions 14-2 in the third quarter to take a 30-24 lead into the final period.

HEAVENER — The Pocola Indians completed the season sweep of their Black Diamond Conference foes from Heavener, getting a 37-35 road win over the Wolves on Tuesday night at the Heavener Gym.
The Indians jumped out to a 10-3 lead after a period en route to a 21-13 halftime advantage, which became a 28-20 lead heading into the final period.
Hartshorne 73, Talihina 71, OT: Tuesday on Chris Gillespie Court at Ray Henson Gymnasium, the Miners forced overtime with a 20-16 final quarter to knot the game at 66 to force the extra period.

Bella Renee Thompson, age 1 year, 7 months, of Heavener died Sunday, Feb. 8, 2015, in Heavener.Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 12, at First Assembly of God in Heavener. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Dowden-Roberts Funeral Home.

Ida Wilma Fanning was born to Loutitia (Crutchfield) and Marion Braxton McCool on Dec. 18, 1919, in LeFlore County. She moved to her new home in Heaven on Feb. 10, 2015, when her Lord and Savior called her home at the age of 95 years.
