POCOLA â€” The Oil Capital Racing Series sprint cars return for Round 2 of 3 in the 2014 season tonight at Tri-State Speedway.
Also, there will be the return of Economy/360 Modifieds, Mini-Stocks and Front Wheel Drives.
Ticket prices are $15 for adults, $13 for seniors ages 65 and older and children ages 6 to 11 are $5. Admission is free for children ages 5 and younger and all military (past or present with government indentification)
Pit gates will open at 4 p.m. with the grandstands opening at 5 p.m. Hot laps start at 7 p.m. with racing at 7:30 p.m.
MUSKOGEE â€” Three LeFlore County high school soccer players, Poteau's Kendrick Hardaway and Heavener's Miguel Alcantar and Rogelio Serrano, played in Thursday night's Class 4A All-State Game at Creek Nation Field at Indian Bowl, and were on the winning team as the East beat the West 3-2.
Hardaway scored the East's first goal with 31.6 seconds left before halftime to cut the West's lead to 2-1.
Alcantar assisted on the game-winning goal coming with 13:20 left in the game to break a 2-all tie.
Serrano did not score not have an assist in the game.
Kathryn Melba Joyce Wilson Wann, 78, of Monroe died June 12, 2014, in Monroe. Kathryn was born June 1, 1936, in Monroe to George Wesley and Jessie Allen (Webster) Wilson. She was married to Clifton Wann on June 4, 1954. They celebrated their 60th anniversary together at their home in Monroe. Kathryn was a cook at Howe Schools.
Jackie Ray Baggs, 77, of Cameron died Friday, June 13, 2014, in Fort Smith, Ark. Jackie was born Dec. 17, 1936 in Texas to Riley and Beulah Baggs. He was retired from the U.S. Navy. Jack was preceded in death by his parents and an infant sister.
Three LeFlore County girls basketball players will play perhaps their final competitive basketball games of their careers Saturday night.
Poteau's Montana Roll, Cameron's Kacey McGee and Panama's Summer Stockton will play in the Indian All-State Game at 6 p.m. Saturday at Oklahoma Wesleyan University in Bartlesville.
One other local player, Keota's Casey Marshall, made the second team of the 2014 Indian All-State Team, and she will be an alternate and get to play in the game should someone not be able to play.
Two LeFlore County high school softball players, Heavenerâ€™s Savannah Steelman and Pocolaâ€™s Taylor Farley, will participate in their final competitive slow-pitch games of their careers Saturday afternoon as they will be in the 2014 Oklahoma Slow-Pitch Softball Coaches Association All-State Games at the University of Oklahoma.
Farley will be on the East team in the Middle School All-State Game at 1 p.m.
Steelman will be on the East team in the Large School All-State Game at 3 p.m.
