DURANT, Okla. â€“ Artisans are often the torchbearers for a culture, teaching and sharing with others the spirit of a people who came before, with the spirit of talent and passion for contemporary additions of today. Of such torchbearers is a unique artist whose crafts were designed to heal and help.
The LeFlore County Detention Center Public Trust regular business meeting has been scheduled for Wed., July 9, at 1 p.m. in the County Commissioner's Office in Poteau.
On Agenda for discussion will be the detention center's report and public appearance.
The Trust also will go into executive session pertaining to the following lawsuits:
A) Raymond Larry Nichols Case
B) Duane Sweeten Case
C) Denay Burris Case
D) Felicia Carshall Case
E) Elvis Thacker Case

Doris Pat â€śDoeâ€ť McBride, 71, of Heavener died Friday, July 5, 2014 in Heavener. Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, July 9, in Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Dowden-Roberts Funeral Home.
Donnie Lee Fryhover, 64, of Monroe died Thursday, July 3, 2014 in Spiro. He was born Jan. 24, 1950, in Poteau.
Wyatt Steven Ray Edwards, infant son of Candice (Hendrix) Thompson of Cameron and Andrew Edwards of Panama was born and passed away on July 4, 2014, in Fort Smith, Ark.
Wyatt is survived by his parents; three brothers, Cole Thompson and James Thompson of Cameron and Kayden Edwards of Poteau; two sisters, Patience Thompson of Cameron and Hailey Edwards of Poteau; grandparents, Hattie Hendrix of Tulsa, Steve and Jeanne Hendrix of McCurtain, Ray and Karen Edwards of Panama; and great-grandmother, Nettie McGee of Fort Smith.
Edward Henry Cobb, 71, of Poteau died Saturday, July 5, 2014, in Poteau. Edward was born Oct. 10, 1942, in Enid to John Henry and Ruth Marguerite (Carlisle) Cobb. He was a mechanic. Edward was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Edward Lee Cobb; and one sister, Ellen Fauver.
He and Betty Fenwick were married on July 30, 1960.
Grace R. Huss, 91, of Poteau died Thursday, July 3, 2014, in Poteau. Grace was born Oct. 19, 1922, in Williams to Martin L. and Frances A. (Moore) Stankewitz. Grace was one of Jehovahâ€™s Witnesses. Grace was a provider for DHS. She was preceded in death by her husband, Garthur Dorsey Huss, on April 5, 1998; three sisters and three brothers.
The 2014 Choctaw Country Club Junior Golf Clinic will take place the next three Tuesdays. The clinic will take place from 9 to 11 a.m. every Tuesday.
The entry fee is $10 per child per week, which includes drinks each week. All ages are welcome.
At the end of the eight-week clinic, there will be a tournament, a cookout and a pool party.

The 2014 Spider Webb Invitational will take place Saturday and Sunday at Wolf Ridge Country Club. A practice round will take place Friday.
Phillip Zearly, newly elected member of the Poteau City Council will be sworn into office tonight [July7] during the town's regular meeting.
The meeting will be held at Poteau City Hall beginning at 7 p.m.
Also meetings of the Poteau Public Works Authority and Industrial Authority will be held tonight.
