TULSA — Tyler Gibson had his moments Tuesday night in the Small School All-State Baseball Game at J.L. Johnson Stadium on the campus of Oral Roberts University.
The 2013 Wister High School graduate came in relief of Caney Valley’s Kyle Knight in the sixth inning. In his two innings, he allowed a run on a hit, a walk and struck out a batter as the Small East beat the Small West 9-5.
“It was great,” Gibson said. “Coming out here and being able to close it, it was an honor to be able do it in the All-State Game."

Local youth has encounter with snake, wins the battle; Beast Feast in Muskogee coming up this month

July 31, 2013

How about this snake story? Eleven-year-old Gavin Garrett of Poteau was hanging out with his grandfather, Don Garrett, this week when they came across a five-foot, six-inch long rattlesnake in Don’s barn. The snake was nine inches around at its largest point, and had 13 rattles and a button.
When Gavin and Don found the big dude inside the door of his barn, Gavin shot it with a .22 pistol that he had with him only to realize that the pistol had rat shot in it.
