Billy Ray “Bill” Tacket, 77, of Bokoshe died Sunday, Nov. 24, 2013. Services are planned for 2 p.m. Wednesday. Nov. 27, at Solid Rock Pentecostal Church in Panama. Burial will be in Milton Cemetery. Family visitation will be from 6-8 P.m. Tuesday at Mallory-Martin Funeral Home, Spiro.

Arthaina M. Hancock Christiansen

Arthaina M. Hancock Christiansen, 65, of Eufaula died Nov. 16 in an Oklahoma City hospital.
Arthaina was born Sept. 7, 1948, in Poteau to Minnie Collins Hancock and Arthur Hancock.
Arthaina was preceded in death by her mother, father, two brothers and two sisters.
She is survived by her spouse, two daughters, one son, five sisters, five grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Clovis Eugene Marshall, 69, of Poteau died Friday, Nov. 22, 2013, in Fort Smith, Ark. He was born May 6, 1944, in Battiest to the late Clyde Herman Marshall and Amanda Marie LeFlore Marshall. He was a rancher, welder and worked for a van conversion company.

James “Danny” Daniel Towe, 59, of Spiro died Monday, Nov. 25, in Spiro.
He was born July 19, 1954, in Fort Smith, Ark., to James Marion Towe and Jaunema (Miles) Sparacio. 
He is survived by his wife, Betty Towe of the home, three stepdaughters, Della Fox of Stigler, Karen Moody and husband Dustin of Spiro, Donna Stiles and husband Rick of Spiro; one sister, Denise Reed and husband Robert of Spiro; two brothers, Jeffrey L. Towe of Spiro, Woodruff “Tommy” Sparacio of Little Rock, Ark., his mother, Jaunema Sparacio of Spiro; one niece and four nephews.

BOKOSHE — The Leflore Savages spoiled not only the season opener for the Bokoshe Tigers but the coaching debut of new Bokoshe coach Jeff Williamson as the Savages handled the Tigers 85-46 Thursday night at Bokoshe Tigers Fieldhouse.
Whitesboro 57, Indianola 16: In Indianola, the Bulldogs jumped out to a 19-3 lead after a period and never looked back.
Wilburton 54, Panama 36: Thursday night in Panama, trailing 11-8 after a period, the Diggers outscored the Razorbacks 17-9 in the second quarter to take a 25-20 halftime lead.

BOKOSHE — It took two overtimes, but the Leflore Lady Savages snapped their three-game losing streak to spoil the season opener for the Bokoshe Lady Tigers as the visitors prevailed 47-44 Thursday night at Bokoshe Tigers Fieldhouse.
Whitesboro 50, Indianola 12: Friday night in Indianola, the Lady Bulldogs jumped out to a 9-0 lead after a period en route to a 19-4 halftime advantage and a 39-8 lead after three periods.

Wister JH teams sweep Green Valley Conference Tournament titles

The Wister Wildcats and Lady Wildcats swept the titles at the 2013 Green Valley Junior High Conference Tournament on Thursday night in Arkoma.
Both Wister teams beat Howe in the finals, the ’Cats edging the Lions 28-27 and the Lady ‘Cats beating the Lady Lions 40-33.
Arkoma's boys nipped Panama 39-38 in the third-place game, while Bokoshe's girls beat Keota 29-27 to take third place.
In the consolation finals at the Howe Gym, Cameron's girls beat McCurtain and Keota's boys defeated Cameron.

Talihina makes state quarterfinals again with win over Hominy; Golden Tigers will play winner of today's Cashion-Okeene game next week

TALIHINA — The Talihina Golden Tigers won their Class A second-round playoff game with a 46-26 win over the Hominy Bucks on Friday night at Doc Robinson Stadium.
The Golden Tigers (12-0) will have to wait until today to find out their Class A quarterfinal opponent. They will play the winner of today's Cashion-Okeene game, which was postponed Friday night due to inclement weather in Okeene — located about 45 miles southwest of Enid.

Shattuck ends Arkoma's season

SHATTUCK — The Class C playoff run for the Arkoma Mustangs came to an end as they suffered a 62-14 loss to the fourth-ranked Shattuck Indians Friday night in the state quarterfinals.
The Mustangs end their Cinderella run at 7-4.
