Jennifer Mae (Burrow) Pyatt

Jennifer Mae Burrow Pyatt, 43, of Poteau died Monday, Dec. 9, 2013, in Poteau. Jennifer was born August 12, 1970 in Fontana, Calif., to Robert James and Grace (Sawyer) Burrow. She was an administrative assistant at Cooper Clinic in Fort Smith, Ark. Jennifer was preceded in death by her grandmother, Charlene Stanley.

Lillie Crims, 99, died Friday, Dec. 6, 2013, at Eufaula Manor Nursing Home.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 14, at Talihina First Baptist Church. Burial will be in Old Talihina Cemetery under the direction of Burk-hart Funeral Service.

Leon “Bootman” Cranford

Leon “Bootman” Cranford, 74, of Talihina died Monday, Dec. 9, 2013, at his home.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 15, at the Talihina School Little Theatre with Frank McCawley Jr. officiating. Burial will be in New Talihina Cemetery under the direction of Burk-hart Funeral Service.

Kelly Dawn Cox

Kelly Dawn Cox, 34, of Spiro died Monday, Dec. 9, 2013.
Services are planned for 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 14, at Mallory-Martin Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Spiro City Cemetery. Family visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Two injured in collision

December 11, 2013

Traffic was detoured around Oklahoma Highway 112 early Wednesday morning after a head on collision injured two people.
According to emergency personnel, a gray Ford Mustang appeared to cross the center line for unknown reasons striking a red Ford pickup.
Emergency personnel said the driver of each vehicle was injured but in stable condition, both treated by LeFlore County Emergency Medical Services at the scene then taken to Fort Smith, Ark., hospitals.

Bidding extended for Fantasy Forest

The Fantasy Forest fundraiser hosted by the LeFlore County Historical Society has been extended until midnight Friday.
Due to inclement weather, several days of bidding were halted as people were unable to travel to the downtown Poteau area.
If you would like to bid on a fantasy tree, you may do so online at the LeFlore County Historical Society Facebook page or in person at the LeFlore County Museum on Wednesday or Thursday from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. and Friday from 5-7 p.m.
One of the trees and the money raised will go to help the LeFlore County Foster Children program.

Treble Choir performs holiday concert Tuesday

The award-winning Treble Choir of Cavanal Chorale invites everyone to celebrate the holiday season with a special performance.
For the third consecutive year, the Treble Choir will perform traditional Christmas songs and carols. This year’s performance is entitled “Another Night of Carols” and will begin at 7 p.m. tonight at the Poteau First United Methodist Church, at 109 South Harper.
The musical selections will last about an hour. Light refreshments will be served.
