HEAVENER â€” The Heavener Lady Wolves swept their way past the Spiro Lady Bulldogs to win the Class 3A District Tournament on Thursday, winning by scores of 12-0 and 18-2.
The Lady Wolves (27-9) will find out on Monday their Class 3A Regional Tournament fate from the Oklahoma Secondary Schools Activities Association.
The Lady Bulldogs end the season at 10-14.
POCOLA â€” Nothing like doing things the hard way. Just ask the Pocola Lady Indians.
After losing the first game of the Class 2A District Tournament to Sallisaw-Central on Thursday afternoon, the Lady Indians staved off elimination twice. The last time gave them the district title as the Lady Indians blanked the Lady Tigers 6-0 in Friday afternoon's winner-take-all game.
The two teams split Thursday's games, with Sallisaw-Central taking the opener 3-2 and Pocola the nightcap 9-7.
BUFFALO VALLEY â€” The 2013 fast-pitch softball season came to an end for the Whitesboro Lady Bulldogs as they suffered a pair of loses to the Buffalo Valley Lady Buffaloes by scores of 4-1 and 10-6 in the Class B District Tournament on Thursday.
The Lady Bulldogs finish the season at 10-16.
WEBBERS FALLS â€” The Bokoshe Tigers will have to wait until next week to get win No. 1 on the 2013 season.
The Tigers suffered a 48-0 loss to the Webbers Falls Warriors in District C-4 game. The contest was called at halftime due to the mercy rule, where if a team in 8-man football is up by 45 points or more at halftime or at anytime in the second half the game is automatically stopped at that point.
A scrappy Heavener Wolves team faced off against the homestanding Valliant Bulldogs Friday and came home with a hard-fought 20-16 loss.
VIAN â€” It was a rough start to the District 2A-6 season for the Pocola Indians on Friday night as they lost 59-0 to the homestanding Vian Wolverines.
SPIRO â€” Leading 17-14 with 1:18 left to play, Frankie Solomon and Trevon Mitchem combined to stop Stigler quarterback Seth Sandlin on fourth down at the Panthers' 42 and led the Spiro Bulldogs to a hard-fought District 3A-8 opening win.
Each team had the ball three times in the final quarter, but neither team scored.
TALIHINA â€” The Talihina Golden Tigers smashed the Quinton Savages in a 58-7 homecoming battle Friday night at Doc Robinson Stadium after opening the first quarter with a 28-point barrage.
â€œWe did pretty much what we needed to do" was how Panama coach Brandon Ellis summed up his team's 67-28 rout of Wilburton Diggers on Friday night in Wilburton.
LEFLORE â€” The Leflore Savages baseball team is one win away from a district title, but they had to do it the hard way to reach that point.
The Savages, facing elimination all day Friday, beat Panola 10-2 and the lone undefeated team in the Class B District Tournament, Buffalo Valley, 9-7 in the first title game to force this afternoon's winner-take-all championship game at noon today.
The Savages split their games on Thursday, beating Whitesboro 13-5 but losing to Buffalo Valley 7-4.
