Nominations are currently being accepted for the 2012 Poteau High School Sports Hall of Fame.
Categories include: football, boys and girls basketball, baseball, fast-pitch and slow-pitch softball, boys and girls soccer, boys and girls track, boys and girls golf, boys and girls cross country, boys and girls all-around athlete, wrestling, coaching and support and service.
The deadline to submit nominations is March 30.

The Class A and B playoffs, a.k.a., “the second season,” will begin tonight, with four of the 10 LeFlore County teams trying to keep their seasons going as they are facing elimination.
In the Class A District Tournament at the Cameron Gym, the host Lady Yellowjackets and the Arkoma Mustangs will play make-or-break games tonight when they meet Clayton at 6:30 and 8 p.m., respectively, tonight. While the losers will be eliminated, the winners will meet the Arkoma Lady Mustangs (6:30 p.m.) and the host ’Jackets (8 p.m.) on Saturday night for the district championship.
The 2012 baseball season for the Carl Albert State College Vikings started in fine fashion as they swept a doubleheader from the University of the Ozarks junior varsity Wednesday afternoon at Ival Goodman Field by scores of 10-0 in a five-inning run-rule contest and 9-2.
The Vikings will return to action with back-to-back days of action Wednesday and Thursday. They will entertain Coffeyville, Kan., in a noon doubleheader on Wednesday before traveling to Muskogee to face the Bacone College JV in a twinbill beginning at 1 p.m. Thursday.
Citing personal reasons, Heavener Wolves Football Coach John Thompson plans to step down. The announcement has not yet been made, but there is speculation that he will resign before the end of this school year.
“Yes, he has said he plans to step down, but he has not given an official resignation,” Heavener Superintendent Ed Wilson said. “He told us he plans to get out (of coaching). He will stay within our system.”
The 2012 He-Man Punt, Pass and Kick Competition winners were crowned last weekend at the “Jody Ray Sports Complex.”
The sixth annual Junior He-Man Punt, Pass and Kick Competition took place Saturday afternoon.
The L'il Me-Man Division champion was Zayden Dennis, who scored 37 points and earned $75. He won the tire throw, field goal and read and recognition events.
Sarah Carroll was second (32 points, $30) and Brandon Carshall was third (17, $20). Carshall also was named the Most Improved Athlete for this year's event, while Aaron Carroll won the “Got-A-Man Down” Award.

San Bois CASA, which serves the counties of LeFlore, Latimer and Haskell, have invited the public to the Sixth Annual Cajun Celebration of "FAT Tuesday", Feb. 21, 2012 from 6 until 8 p.m. at the VFW Building at 108 W. Ada Street in Wilburton Okla.
The event will be hosted by San Bois CASA volunteers, staff and board members and will have a sampling of great Cajun food including gumbo, jambalaya, beans and rice, shrimp salad, and Hoppin' John.
CASA is a non-profit organization that trains community volunteers to advocate for the best interest of our children in need.
