The location of the home where the shooting occurred and the victim's name have not been released, only that the 59-year-old woman lived in the Milton area in northwest LeFlore County.

Arkansas Razorbacks lay an egg on homecoming

October 15, 2013

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — I'm sure there are some college football fans in LeFlore County who are fans of the Oklahoma Sooners who believe their team laid an egg Saturday at the Cotton Bowl against Texas.
This humble sports writer also saw an egg laid — a homecoming egg at that — Saturday at Frank Broyles Field at Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium.
The Arkansas Razorbacks, except for the first half of the first quarter, did little right as they suffered a 52-7 homecoming loss to Steve Spurrier's South Carolina Gamecocks.

No teams made it to state this fall on the diamond; Poteau softball coach gets 300th coaching win during LCT

October 14, 2013

For the first time in my four falls here at sports editor, there is no state tournament on the fast-pitch softball or fall baseball diamonds for LeFlore County. The Poteau Lady Pirates had the last chance, but for the third straight fall they lost in the regional finals to see their season end.
However, the Poteau season was still a very good one, amassing a 28-10 record, the team's fifth straight county title and 11th straight district title. Senior ace RaeLynn Caldwell eclipsed the 300-strikeout plateau this season during last week's Class 4A Regional Tournament.
