Buccaneer Basketball registration has begun. Registration forms can be picked up at Poteau City Hall from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Cost to register is $25 per player and deadline to enter is Oct. 25.
Anyone interested in coaching a team needs to contact Billy Bond at (918) 647-1939.
The first coaches meeting will be at 6 p.m. Wednesday at Poteau City Hall. The draft will be Oct. 23.

The 2013 Eagle Crest 4-Ball Golf Tournament will be next Saturday and Sunday at Eagle Crest Golf Course in Fort Smith, Ark.

PANAMA — It was a happy homecoming for the Panama Razorbacks Friday night at George Ollie Stadium as they handled the Antlers Bearcats 40-22 in a District 2A-6 contest.

SALLISAW — The Talihina Golden Tigers re-opened District A-6 play Friday night, using a potent running attack and stout defense to create turnovers and bulldoze the Sallisaw Central Tigers 47-14.

Bokoshe Tigers get first win, handle Boulevard Christian

MUSKOGEE — It took six weeks, but the Bokoshe Tigers got a win.
The Tigers stepped out of District C-4 play and routed the Boulevard Christian Patriots 54-6 Friday night at Hatbox Sports Complex.

SPIRO — The Spiro Bulldogs withstood a 39-yard game-tying field-goal attempt with 23 seconds remaining and escaped with a 10-7 hard fought victory of the Eufaula Ironheads in a District 3A-8 contest Friday night at McClain Stadium.

Pocola Indians end losing streak, rout Wilburton Diggers

WILBURTON — The Pocola Indians ended their three-game losing streak, and did so rather convincingly as they routed the winless Wilburton Diggers 66-27 Friday night in a District 2A-6 contest.

Poteau girls fall in regional final to host Bethel; Lady Pirates beat Seminole after losing to Bethel on Thursday night; Poteau pitcher eclipses 300 K mark for season

SHAWNEE — The good news on Friday at the Class 4A Regional Tournament at Bethel High School was, for starters, Poteau senior pitcher RaeLynn Caldwell surpassed the 300 strikeout mark for the season.
Secondly, for the third straight year, the Lady Pirates reached the regional final. Unfortunately for the third straight year, that was where the season ended as the Lady Pirates fell 4-0 in the title game to the host Bethel Lady Wildcats.
Poteau reached the title game with a 10-0, five-inning, run-rule win over the Seminole Lady Chieftains.

Pirates make Fort Gibson Tigers walk the plank to stay unbeaten

FORT GIBSON — Poteau coach Greg Werner said in the post game huddle, “Wow, we played good. Now, we have the drivers seat. We have a short week, and a good [Tulsa] Cascia Hall team coming in on Thursday night.”
The Poteau Pirates never gave up the lead and defeated the Fort Gibson Tigers 42-28 in a crucial District 4A-4 game Friday night.
