FORT SMITH, Ark. (AP) â€” A fall 2016 opening is planned for the $50 million U.S. Marshals Museum on the banks of the Arkansas River in Fort Smith, organizers announced Tuesday.
The museum's board of directors said the groundbreaking for the museum will be held Sept. 24, 2014. The Southwest Times Record reported Wednesday that the groundbreaking will coincide with the release of a commemorative coin marking the 225th anniversary of the Marshals Service.
Registration is now open for the 2013 LeFlore County Express Fall Soccer League.
Registration can be done through the internet at www.leflorecountysoccer.com.
Late registration cost per child is $40.

The 2013 Poteau Coed Church Softball League registration has begun.
Any church that is interested in playing at the Poteau Area Recreational Complex this summer needs to contact Billy Bond at (918) 647-1939.
The entry fee is $400 per team.

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) â€” A civil justice reform measure hailed in 2009 as the most comprehensive bill to ever affect Oklahoma's legal system was declared unconstitutional Tuesday by the Oklahoma Supreme Court.
In a 7-2 decision, the state's highest court declared that the law, known as the Comprehensive Lawsuit Reform Act of 2009, violated the single-subject rule in the Oklahoma Constitution and amounted to unconstitutional logrolling, or the passing of legislation that contains multiple subjects.

A hometown son has lost his life after being targeted by a suicide bomber in Afghanistan.
Spc. Robert Allan Pierce, 20, of Panama was one of two soldiers killed Monday in an insurgent attack in Tsamkani, Afghanistan.
Captain Ebony Malloy with the International Security Assistance Forces said Tuesday that two ISAF members [Pierce and Justin L. Sisson, 23, of Phoenix, Ariz.] were killed during a vehicle borne improvised explosive device attack in eastern Afghanistan [Monday]. The attack also killed and wounded several Afghan civilians.
TAHLEQUAH (AP) â€” The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation has identified a woman found slain in her home in Tahlequah.
OSBI says 40-year-old Tiffany Rene Maher was found dead in her apartment last week.
Investigators were able to locate her car after publicizing a description of the 2011 Ford Fiesta. A Tulsa man saw the description on television news and called police.
OSBI says the car was recovered at the Stone Haven Villas apartment complex in Tulsa on Monday.
Lena Derotha Elder Elliott, 88, of Heavener died Sunday, June 2, 2013.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 5, at Heavener First Baptist Church with burial in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Dowden Funeral Home.
Jason Michael Hiler, 34, of Van Buren, Ark., died Friday, May 31, 2013, in Clinton.
He was born March 4, 1979 in Talihina. Jason was an employee of Acme Trucking and a member of Kibler Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Ward Hiler.
Survivors include his wife, April of the home; two daughters, Sydney and Payton Hiler, both of the home; mother, Nancy Hiler of Poteau; sister, Samantha Pinnell and husband Clinton of Heavener; nephew, Sebastian Pinnell and nieces, Madison and Chandler Pinnell; maternal grandmother, Jo Ann Hiler of Poteau; and niece, Kaley Brown.
