Two bowls-full to ring in 2013

January 6, 2013

My dad, Jack Langdell, and I have never been to a college football game, much less two bowl games in a 24-hour period. Amazing, exciting, overwhelming, just WOW! That's the only way I know to describe our adventure.
We left Poteau around 8:30 a.m. Saturday, excited and ready to enjoy our four days on the road.
The trip to West Memphis, Ark., where we were staying, seemed to fly by. We arrived at the hotel around 2:30 p.m, got checked in, freshened up some and headed across the Mississippi River bridge to Memphis, Tenn.

January 5, 2013

ARKOMA — The 2013 portion of the basketball season got off on the right foot for the Arkoma Mustangs Thursday night as they picked up a home victory over the Wister Wildcats by the score of 46-37.
The Mustangs jumped out to a 4-1 lead and never trailed. They enjoyed a 12-6 lead after one period.
However, the Wildcats stayed close as Adrian Gonzales’ steal and lay-up with 26 seconds left before halftime cut Wister’s deficit to 20-13 at halftime. However, that was as close as the ’Cats got.
