Michael Kelly Frye, 54, of Chicago, formerly of Poteau, died Wednesday, July 18, 2012, in Chicago.
Audrey â€śOpalâ€ť Bowers, 83, of Buck Creek died Monday, July 23, in Fort Smith, Ark.
CATOOSA â€” Monday was a fun day for Addie Guthrie, and somewhat of a sneak preview, too.
The recent Poteau High School graduate and standout golfer got to play one last round of her prep career on Monday's All-State Golf Tournament at Cherokee Hills Golf Course.
Guthrie, who played alongside Bristow's Kayla Schroeder for the East Team, finished in a 2-2 tie with West duo Sarah Delong of Elgin and Bailey McCann of Anadarko in a Ryder Cup style scoring format.
The Rogers State University-bound player, who is joining the team as a walk-on, enjoyed her experience at All-State.
Carl Albert State College Assistant Softball Coach Megan Young will give softball lessons at $25 per hour to girls up through age 18.

The 2012 Poteau Quarterback Club Youth Football Camp will take place from 8 to 10 a.m. Monday through Aug. 1 at Costner Stadium.
Billy Mecom, 76, of Tulsa died Monday, July 23, 2012, in Tulsa. A funeral service will held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 24, with graveside services at 2 p.m. in Fairview Cemetery, Spiro. Mooreâ€™s Eastlawn Chapel, Tulsa, is handling arrangements.
Nancy Melinda Lyons, 75, of Arkoma died Thursday, July 19. Services were held Saturday, July 21, at Mallory-Martin Funeral Home Chapel in Spiro with burial in New Hope Cemetery, Spiro.
Thomas James â€śTomâ€ť Payne, 85, of Poteau died July 22, 2012, in Fort Smith, Ark.
Tom was born May 1, 1927, inÂ Paris, Texas, to Grady and Lidia (George) Payne.Â He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and was retired from OG&E.Â Tom was preceded in death by his parents and son, Tommy Ray Payne.
Survivors include his wife, Bonnie of the home; daughters, Linda Williams of Poteau, Susan Salmaran of Ypsilanti, Mich., Brenda McDonald of Owasso; son, Bill Newnam of Poteau; Steve Wedding of Tulsa;Â eight grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; other relatives and loved ones.
Larry Gene â€śJoeâ€ť Gullick, 63, of Wister died Sunday, July 22, 2012, in Wister.
He was born Sept. 18, 1948, at Poteau to Roy Wilton Sr. and Martha Ann (Barnes) Gullick.Â He was a retired truck driver.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Roy Gullick Jr. and James Ray Gullick; five sisters, Anna Florence James, Mary Francis (Betty) Heavener, Carolyn Sue â€śSusieâ€ť Rutledge-Pennington, Freda Wood and Rita Stien.

There will be some LeFlore County high school graduate athletes invading the Tulsa metropolitan area for the 2012 Oklahoma Coaches Association All-State Games, which will take place Monday through Friday.
Poteau's Addie Guthrie will be a member of the East All-State team in the All-State Girls Golf Tournament at 8:30 a.m. Monday at Catoosa's Cherokee Hills Golf Club.
Wister's Caleb Hill will be a member of the Small East team in the Small School All-State Game at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday at Oral Roberts University's J.L. Johnson Stadium.
