SPIRO — The Spiro Mud Dawgs were trying to stave off elimination Wednesday afternoon in the 2012 OK Kids PeeWee Regional Tournament.
The Mud Dawgs lost 12-2 to the Coleman BRW Tuesday night in the last game of Day 2's slate of contests.
Spiro was facing McCurtain with the winner playing at 1 p.m. this afternoon in another elimination contest, while the loser was eliminated.
The other LeFlore County team in the field, the Panama Razorbacks, also suffered a loss on Tuesday, falling 15-0 to the Texoma Diamond Dogs.
ROLAND — There's going to be at least one LeFlore County OK Kids PeeWee team playing for a regional title at 4:30 p.m. Saturday.
The Poteau Buccaneers and the Whitesboro Bulldogs each won their winner's-bracket semifinal game Tuesday night in the 2012 OK Kids PeeWee Regional Tournament. The Buccaneers beat the Morris Warriors 6-2, while the ’Dogs routed the Roland Cardinals 16-2.
The Buccaneers and the Bulldogs will play at 4:30 p.m. Friday in the winner's-bracket final, with the victor earning a spot in the 4:30 p.m. Saturday title game.
PRESTON — The Spiro Reds OK Kids Coach-Pitch baseball team suffered its first loss in the 2012 OK Kids Regional Tournament, falling 12-5 to the Tecumseh Blackhawks Tuesday night.
The Reds will play an elimination game at 8 p.m. tonight against the winner of today's Checotah Cowboys-Prague Rebels game in the loser's-bracket quarterfinals. My boat is about to get some time on the water. My midget baseball team ended its season on Tuesday night, losing a heartbreaker to the Poteau Pirates 4-3 in the Ok Kids Regional Tournament at the Poteau Area Recreational Complex. Ben Klutts threw one heck of a game against us, and I want to wish him and the rest of the Pirates good luck.
Gary Gibson’s prep team at Wister is the host team for a regional tournament, which begins today and ends on Friday. Stilwell and Cameron are the other two teams in the tournament, and two teams will head to Chandler next week for OK Kids Prep State.
Gayle Smedley, 77, of Poteau died Tuesday, July 3, 2012, in Poteau.
A late rally came up just short as the Poteau Pirates OK Kids Midget baseball team suffered a 4-3 loss to the Texoma Lookouts Monday night in the OK Kids Midget Regional Tournament at the Poteau Area Recreational Complex.
The Pirates had to win an elimination game Tuesday night to have the chance to stay in the tournament. If they won Tuesday night's game, the Pirates will be in tonight's loser's-bracket semifinal at 8 p.m., with that winner playing in the loser's-bracket final at 6 p.m. Friday for the right to get to the 8 p.m. Friday title game.
PANAMA — The 2012 OK Kids Midget Regional Tournament got underway in fine fashion for the Panama Boomers, who defeated the Vian Wolverines 10-8.
The Boomers were slated to play the Madill Cats, who doubled up the Asher Indians 8-4 earlier in the night, in the winner's-bracket semfinals Tuesday night, with that winner playing in the winner's-bracket final at 8 p.m. Thursday.
ROLAND — Two LeFlore County OK Kids PeeWee teams are in the winner's-bracket semifinal of the 2012 Regional Tournament.
The Poteau Buccaneers defeated the Frink Bombers 10-1, while the Whitesboro Bulldogs doubled up the Howe Lions 14-7 in opening-day games on Monday.
The Buccaneers played the Morris Warriors, a 10-0 winner over the Sallisaw Indians on Monday, in one wininer's-bracket semifinal Tuesday night, while the ’Dogs faced tournament host Roland in the other semifinal Tuesday night. The Cardinals defeated the Stigler Rangers 7-3.
STILWELL — The Poteau Rebels got off to a blazing start to begin the 2012 OK Kids PeeWee Regional Tournament on Monday. The Rebels routed the tournament's host, the Stilwell Cardinals 15-1 in three innings.
The Rebels were slated to play in the wininer's-bracket semifinals Tuesday night, with another win putting them into the winner's-bracket final at 4:30 p.m. Friday.
Things did not start well for the Rebels, however, as they fell behind 1-0 in the opening inning, but Stilwell's lead was very short lived.
