September 7, 2013

In the postgame huddle, second-year Poteau coach Greg Werner breathed a sigh of relief as he talked to his troops after the pulsating 43-42 double-overtime victory by the Pirates over the Durant Lions on Friday night at Costner Stadium.
“I have told you all along that the Durant Lions are much improved over last year, and I believe that they will make the playoffs,” Werner said. “Nevertheless, we played as badly as we could have played in the third quarter, but we played as a team and we came back. I would rather win ugly as to lose pretty.”
