A question going into the 83rd LeFlore County Tournament was seeing if the Howe Lady Lions would remain undefeated at the end of it. They answered that with an emphatic yes.
The Lady Lions clawed the Arkoma Lady Mustangs 77-50 in Saturday night’s championship game at the Spiro Multipurpose Gym.
The Spiro Bulldogs won the county title for the fourth straight season, downing their rivals, the Poteau Pirates, 55-49 in the boys championship contest.
The girls seeding held true to form for the 83rd LeFlore County Tournament on Friday night as the top seed, the Howe Lady Lions, and the second seed, the Arkoma Lady Mustangs, won their semifinal contests at the Spiro Multipurpose Gym.
The Lady Lions got past the Heavener Lady Wolves 54-40 in the first championship semifinal, then the Lady Mustangs edged the Spiro Lady Bulldogs 59-56 in a barnburner in the second semifinal.
The day began with the fifth-place games. The Whitesboro Bulldogs clawed the Wister Wildcats 56-31, while the Pocola Lady Indians defeated the Leflore Lady Savages 39-32.
It’s hard to believe, but the 83rd LeFlore County Tournament is in the books. It seemed like it just got started.
We had some exciting games, and crowned a new girls champion in the Howe Lady Lions and saw the Spiro Bulldogs four-peat as LCT champs.
