For the second straight home game, Poteau senior softball pitcher RaeLynn Caldwell flirted with perfection inside her home circle. On Aug. 20, Caldwell was perfect for 6.1 innings against Class 5A's top-ranked Tahlequah Lady Tigers before not only the perfect game but a victory slipped away.
Tuesday afternoon, the Poteau senior ace was in the same situation as she had a perfect game against the Pocola Lady Indians through 6.1 innings.
The bad news was Pocola's Brooklyn Morton broke up the perfect game, but the good news was the Lady Pirates hung on to win 2-0.

Did I stump you?

August 28, 2013

My questions I ask you in my last column were difficult.
Here are the answers — to most of them that is.
1. Troy Aikman was the only Big 8 quarterback to win a national championship and a Super Bowl championship.
2. Nate Hybl won a national championship in football at OU, but he also won a championship in golf at Georgia.
3. Jim Thorpe was the first player to score a touchdown and hit a home run in the same weekend.
4. Jim Brown, a Syracuse Orangeman, is considered one of the best running backs of all times, but he is also considered the best lacrosse player ever.
