WHITESBORO — The Whitesboro High School basketball teams split their home games Thursday night with Kinta.
The Lady Bulldogs rebounded from Tuesday night's loss to Smithville by posting a 56-34 victory over the Lady Eagles. However, the Eagles got past the ’Dogs 54-50.
BUFFALO VALLEY — The Leflore High School basketball teams hit the road for the first time Thursday night, going to Buffalo Valley. The locals split their games, with the Savages winning 52-40. The Lady Savages' rally fell short in a 47-45 defeat.
The Carl Albert State College basketball teams began their home seasons in fine fashion with a happy homecoming Thursday night at Mick Thompson Fieldhouse.
The Vikings rallied to down the Bacone College junoir varsity 67-45 for their first win of the season, which came in the heels of the Lady Vikings' 80-29 rout of the Bacone JV.
At halftime of the men's game, Kelly Taylor was crowned as CASC's homecoming queen.
The Poteau High School cross country runners were honored with a postseason banquet Thursday night at the Dale Cox Community Center.
The highlight of the night was when Poteau Coach Tim Hall unveiled a new record board which shows the top runners in Poteau High School history. In fact, four runners' times this season made the top 10 in their respective category.
On the boys' side, Nico Hall is currently third all-time in 3.1-mile races with a 17:59, while Daniel Stacy is ninth all-time (19:05).
Deven Bond (13:12) is fifth all-time in the girls' side, while Sheridan Hoyer (13:20) is seventh.

Lonnie E. Thurmon, 81, of Cameron died Thursday, Nov. 11, 2011, in Fort Smith, Ark. Services are pending with Evans and Miller Funeral Home, Poteau.
Nan Kathryn Smith, 69, of Howe died Wednesday, Nov. 9, 2011, in Howe. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 14, in Dowden Funeral Home Chapel under the direction of Dowden Funeral Home, Heavener.
Sue B. (Kennedy) Dutton, 81, of Poteau died Friday, Nov. 11, 2011, in Fort Smith, Ark. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 14, at the First Methodist Church in Leflore with burial in Leflore Cemetery under the direction of Evans and Miller Funeral Home, Poteau.
Howard Larry Perkins Sr., 65, of Pocola died Friday, Nov. 11, 2011, in Pocola. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 15, at Steep Hill Cemetery, Jenny Lind, Ark., under the direction of Evans and Miller Funeral Home, Pocola.
