A man is behind bars after wrecking the stolen vehicle he was driving while leading police on a high-speed chase.
Dustin Virgil Hamman, 18, of Poteau, was arrested Tuesday evening on charges of larceny of an automobile, eluding police and running a road block stemming from the incident.
Hamman was reportedly driving a stolen Mercedes SUV that he had taken from a Poteau business when he was spotted by Poteau police officers.
The chase began on North Broadway and traveled through residential streets, ending when Hamman ran off the roadway on North Witte Street and fled on foot.

Three years ago when the Talihina Golden Tigers football team made the state quarterfinals, they had the dubious honor of traveling to Hennessey, located 20 miles south of Enid. The combination of the four-hour road trip and playing a good Hennessey Eagles team led to a season-ending loss for the Golden Tigers.
In 2012, the Golden Tigers are back in the state quarterfinals, but this time they're home. The Golden Tigers (11-1) will entertain the fifth-ranked Cashion Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. Friday night at Doc Robinson Stadium in the Class A state quarterfinals.
I hope everyone has a happy Thanksgiving and thanks God for all the blessings — past and present — He has given you. I did as arrived Wednesday night in Enid to enjoy the holiday with my 86-year mom. We both slaved in the kitchen on Thursday — not. We decided to go to Golden Corral for our Thanksgiving Day meal. I'm actually going to be gone until early next week, which I can never remember having that much time off during the athletic school year in my 22 years as a sports writer. Mind you, I'm not complaining.

Gun season is in full swing, and once again I have not laid eyes on a deer yet. We did have a good time camping with the family last weekend, and a few deer were killed even though that is not the main reason I go camping with my family. I know I could kill more deer if I left the kids at home, but that just would not be right.
