The Oklahoma State University 2011 Christmas Baseball Camps will be this month at Allie P. Reynolds Stadium in Stillwater.
The 2011 Cowboy Youth Christmas Camp Sessions for those who are in grades two through eight will be 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday for the first session, and the same time for the second session on Sunday.
Registration will begin at 9 a.m. both days. The camp cost is $200.
The 2011 Cowboy High School Christmas Hitting Camp will be 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Dec. 17, while the Christmas Pitching Camp will be from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Dec. 18.
Were you all able to come up with the answers to last weeks questions dealing with sports mascots whose names do not end with the letter S? In baseball, the Boston Red Sox and the Chicago White Sox are the only two teams in the Major League Baseball that their mascots does not end in the letter S. While the National Basketball Association teams whose mascots don't end in the letter S are the Oklahoma City Thunder, the Miami Heat and the Utah Jazz.

At their extended meeting Tuesday night the Pocola board of trustees voted four to one to hire Steve Howard as the new Pocola police chief. Trustee Jewell Clark was the lone "no" vote.
Vivian Louise Aldred Frank Tullis , 91, of Tulsa (formerly of Poteau) died Saturday, Dec. 3, 2011. in Tulsa. Vivian was born in Poteau on March 11, 1920, to Howard Meade and Kathryn (Otey) Aldred. She was an interior decorator. She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Gatie Frank; second husband, Guy Lollis, third husband, Jack Tullis; daughter, Pamela Ann Frank; son, Gerald Neff; granddaughter, Jann Ethen; and three sisters, Helen Larkin, Jeanette Fullen and Betty Baggett;
Lillian Virginnia Pettis, 83, of Howe died Monday, Nov. 28, 2011, in Howe. Lillian was born July 8, 1928, in Wewoka to Walter and Ila Della Hays. She married Doyle Pettis on Aug. 31, 1946, in Wellington, Kan. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband; daughters, Leella Williams and Sonya Pettis; son, Dean Pettis; grandsons, Billy Powell, Doug Rohrbaugh; two sisters and four brothers. She was a longtime resident of Watonga. She was a homemaker.
Alline Mae Logan, 91, of Poteau died Sunday, Dec. 4, 2011, in Poteau. Alline was born July 17, 1920, in Barber, Ark., to James Daniel and Pernie (Jenkins) Hope. She was a homemaker. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Poteau. Alline was very active in the Hospital Auxiliary, the Free Christian Clinic and Meals on Wheels. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Carl Logan; three brothers and one sister; great grandson, Nicholas Benson; and daughter-in-law, Mary Logan.
William Henry Grosskopf Jr. of Greenwood, Del., died Friday, Nov. 18, 2011, at Bayhealth Milford Memorial Hospital in Milford, Del. He was 83.
He was born on Oct. 20, 1928, in Bronx, N.Y., son of the late William H. Sr. and Anna Weber Grosskopf.
Johnny Hugh Akins, 68, of Bethany (formerly of Wister) died Saturday, Dec. 3, 2011, in Bethany. Johnny was born in Poteau on Aug. 3, 1943, to Jess Hugh and Odena Lorene (Nix) Akins. He was a carpenter. Johnny was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Bobbie Doris Whitman Akins; and son, Johnny Wayne Akins.
STILLWATER — A lot of prognosticators believed that Oklahoma State would get the better of Oklahoma in this season’s version of Bedlam on the football field. But, like me, I didn’t think it would be as lopsided as it was, with the Pokes winning 44-10.
The Cowboys knew they had to not only win, but win big in Saturday night’s Bedlam game against the Sooners at Boone Pickens Stadium. In the first half, they did just that.
