Jake Louis Smith, 93 of Spiro departed this life to start a new journey June 26, 2013, in his home with family and friends surrounding him and holding his hand.

The second annual Brittney Cox Memorial Golf Tournament 2-Man Scramble will take place at noon Saturday at Choctaw Country Club. Lunch will be served at 11 a.m.

Elec E. Cusick, 39, of Spiro has been incarcerated since he was arrested Jan. 24 after being released from a Tulsa hospital for injuries he received during a fire at his home. His girlfriend, Myrtle Cooper, 47, of Spiro, was injured in the incident and later died on March 14 in a Tulsa hospital.
