Cynthia Carol Crownover, 56, of Heavener died Wednesday, Nov. 23, 2011, in Fort Smith, Ark. Services were held at 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 28, at First Assembly of God Church, under the direction of Dowden Funeral Home, Heavener.

Bill 'Hoss' Purcell

Bill “Hoss” Purcell of Cameron died at his home on Saturday, Nov. 26, 2011. Bill married Carolyn Blair on June 10, 2006, in Poteau. He was a member of the James V. Callan Dalite Lodge in Irving, Texas, and a member of the McAlester Masonic Lodge. Bill received his 32nd degree at the McAlester Lodge. Bill was a self-employed truck driver with an attitude and sense of humor.
Bill was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Robin Phillips, and two sisters, Susan Counts and Louise Rose.

Local police departments burglarized during the holiday

Three suspects are in custody following burglaries of the Panama and Howe Police Departments that occurred Thanksgiving morning.
Nikita Don Beshirs, 34, William John Real, 21, and Chelsea Rashele Hall, 23, all of Panama, were arrested for multiple burglary related charges after police discovered stolen contraband in a wrecked vehicle the trio had used to commit the thefts.
Hall, who allegedly told police she wrecked the vehicle intentionally to terminate her pregnancy, reportedly admitted to police that she broke into the police department's to prove a point.

Republicans to meet today

The LeFlore County Repubicans will meet today, at noon at the Poteau Pizza Hut. Dakota Wood, candidate for U.S. Congress, 2nd District, will be the featured speaker.

Community Thanksgiving Dinner

More than 430 meals were served at the annual Community Thanksgiving Dinner on Thursday. More than 200 of those were served inside the Poteau High School Cafeteria by volunteers who were on hand for the event. The dinner was supposed to start serving at 11 a.m. but so many were lined up early that the doors were opened at 10:30 a.m. Jim Bergen says he is now focusing on the Community Christmas Dinner which is just a couple of weeks away.

Janette Wickware, 77, of Hodgen died Tuesday, Nov. 22, 2011, in Fort Smith, Ark. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 26, at First Baptist Church in Hodgen, under the direction of Dowden Funeral Home, Heavener. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Geraldine Marie Silva

Geraldine Marie Silva, 82, of Bokoshe died Wednesday, Nov. 16, 2011, in Bokoshe. She was born Feb. 16, 1929, in National City, Calif., to Octovio and Frances (Salas) Salazar. Geraldine Salazar married Joe Susano Silva on Aug. 3, 1947. in Los Angeles. She was a homemaker and was very devoted to her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a son, John Silva.

Charles K. Neeley

Charles K. Neeley, 73, of Poteau died Saturday, Nov. 19, 2011, in Poteau. Charles was born Dec. 17, 1937, in Holland, Mo., to Lonnie and Edna (Spencer) Neeley. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He was a truck driver. Charles was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Debbie Smith; and sister, Ruby Neeley.
Survivors include his wife, Joyce of the home; daughters, Janice Andrews and Linda McNees of Battle Creek, Mich., Robin Griggs of Ohio, Trish Howery of Poteau; sons, Chuck Neeley of Poteau, Darrell Gage of Missouri; 25 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren.

Joel Dwayne Hicks, 31, of Poteau died Sunday, Nov. 20, 2011, in Poteau. Joel was born Nov. 11, 1979 in McAlester. Joel worked in construction. He loved to play football and golf. He loved his daughter so very much. He was saved and brought to the Lord the summer of 2010. He was preceded in death by his father, Lowell Wayne Hicks; grandparents, Lowell Dee and Atha Belle Hicks, Ray C. Babb, Iris Babb Cabe and Tom Cabe.

Albert Ernest Hall Jr.

Albert Ernest Hall Jr., 76, of Heavener died Monday, Nov. 21, 2011, at his home.
Albert served on the Carl Albert State College Board of Regents for 11 years. He was co-owner with his father of the Sinclair station in Heavener. He was a member of First United Methodist Church and Heavener Lions Club. He graduated with a business degree from the University of Oklahoma and was an avid OU fan.
Albert served seven years in the U.S. Marine Corps, retiring with the rank of lieutenant colonel.
