Linda Sue Barnes, 67, of Cameron died Sunday, November 4, 2012 in Poteau. Linda was born Aug. 30, 1945, in Bishop, Va., to Benjamin Harold and Martha Jane (Mathena) Cunningham. She was a seamstress and worked for many years at the Western Shirt factory “Flyer Garment.” She was preceded in death by her parents and stepdaughter, Vanessa Barnes.

Hogs survive for homecoming win over Golden Hurricane

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — The Arkansas Razorbacks finally came through with a win as they celebrated homecoming with a 19-15 victory over the Tulsa Golden Hurricane on Saturday at Frank Broyles Field at Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium.
The Razorbacks (4-5) were challenged all day by a good Golden Hurricane team (7-2), which saw its seven-game winning streak snapped but is undefeated in Conference USA.

Tulsa let one get away Saturday against Arkansas

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — It's always frustrating on a losing team to know that it had a chance to win that respective contest. Just as the Tulsa Golden Hurricane.

Early voters keep election board staff hopping

Voters were greeted by LeFlore County Election Board Secretary Phillip Zearley Monday as they submitted their voter identification card or Oklahoma driver's license so they could cast their early vote in Tuesday's General Election.
According to Zearley, this years turn-out has been the largest he has seen in years.

Missing Pocola woman's body found near bridge

Pocola Police have confirmed the body of Pocola missing woman Ruby Poole, 74, was found Saturday.
According to Pocola Chief of Police Steve Howard, Poole's body was found near Wells Creek Bridge on State Highway 112.
Howard said there doesn't appear to be any foul play involved in Poole's death but her body has been sent to the Oklahoma State Medical Examiner's Officer to determine the official cause of death.

The Spiro Youth Basketball League is taking sign-ups for kindergarten through fifth grade until Monday at any office at Spiro Public Schools.

Panama loses home finale to Vian, but still makes playoffs thanks to Hartshorne win over Wilburton

PANAMA — The Panama Razorbacks football team wasn't quite in the playoffs with last week's home win over archrival Pocola. It took two Wilburton losses last week and Friday night to ensure a Hogs' trip to the postseason, since the Razorbacks lost their home finale 54-0 to No. 1 Vian on Friday night at George Ollie Stadium.
The Diggers lost last week to Hugo, then lost in their rivalry game with the Hartshorne Miners on Friday night to solidify Panama's trip to Okemah next week to begin the Class 2A playoffs.

Mountainburg spoils Senior Night for Pocola, but Indians heading into playoff next week against Stroud

POCOLA — The Pocola Indians were hoping to enter next week's Class 2A playoff game out Stroud with a win Friday night. It didn't happen as Mountainburg, Ark., came to John Carter Field and left 54-19 victors.

Arkoma football team loses in season finale to Webbers Falls

WEBBERS FALLS — For the last two seasons, the Arkoma Mustangs football team has ended the season with a playoff loss. In 2012, there was no playoff game, but the season still ended with a loss.
The Mustangs closed out the year with a 62-22 loss to the the Webbers Falls Warriors on Friday night.
