Thursday night's Pocola football game on the road against the Stigler Panthers junior varsity is canceled because the Panthers want to keep all their players healthy for Friday night's big District 3A-8 contest at home against the Valliant Bulldogs.
Thus, the Indians will be off this week.

The Oklahoma Area 10 Special Olympics Bowling Competition will take place Thursday at Strike-A-Lot in Poteau.
The singles competition will begin at 10 a.m., followed by the doubles competition at 12:30 p.m. There will be close to 150 participants in the event.

Zada Robbins

October 25, 2011

Zada Robbins, 79, died Thursday, Oct. 20, 2011 at
Salina, Kan.
Mrs. Robbins was born on Aug. 11, 1932, at Bengal to
William H. and Grace L. (Fowler) Johnson.
She was a homemaker and had also worked in the
finance world. She was a 4-foot-11 inch repo Mom. She
held a Certificate of Biblical Studies from Billy Graham.
She was a past member of the Eastern Star.
Survivors include two daughters, Havana Shuler and
husband Thomas, and Angela McWilliams and husband
Dennis of Salina, six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
A graveside service was held Monday at Roselawn

Harriet Fallon Kearns Coleman

Harriet Fallon Kearns Coleman, 95, of
Summerfield died Friday, Oct. 21, 2011, in
Grand Rapids, Mich. Harriet was born
Feb. 11, 1916, in Francis to James Hiram
and Bessie Idell (Fallon) Kearns. She was
the youngest of four girls. Her sisters,
Nellie Idell, Grace Elizabeth, and Ruth
Eleanor, all are deceased. Harriet graduated
from East Central State University in Ada in 1937,
then from the University of Oklahoma in Norman in
1939.
She taught school in Ada for four years, Leflore for 11
years and Talihina for 15 years. She was married for 37

Mable Heath Bullard

October 25, 2011

Mable Heath Bullard, 86, formerly of Heavener died
Saturday, Oct. 22, in Tyler, Texas. Services are planned for
10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 26, at Trinity Baptist Church in
Heavener. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery
under the direction of Dowden Funeral Home, Heavener.

Harriett June Williams

Harriett June Williams, 88, of Cameron died Saturday,
Oct. 22, 2011, in Poteau. No services are scheduled at this
time. Arrangements are under the direction of Evans and
Miller Funeral Home, Poteau.

Paul V. Rodgers

October 25, 2011

Paul V. Rodgers, 59, of Keota died Saturday, Oct. 22,
2011. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday,
Oct. 25, at New Hope Cemetery under the direction of
Mallory-Martin Funeral Home, Spiro.

Poteau cross country teams make state meet; Lady Pirates sixth, Pirates seventh at Class 4A Regional Meet

TULSA — Once again, the Poteau High School cross country teams will end the season at the biggest race of the season — state.
The Lady Pirates and Pirates all qualified for this weekend's Class 4A State Meet, which will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Edmond's Mitch Park.
The Lady Pirates were sixth and the Pirates seventh at Saturday's Class 4A Regional Meet at O'Brien Park.

19, 2011, at his home. Graveside services will be held at 2
p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 25, 2 p.m. at the New Talihina
Cemetery under the direction of Talihina Funeral Home.

Tammy Lou Bowers, 48, of Panama
died Thursday, Oct. 20, 2011, in Fort
Smith, Ark. Tammy was born Aug. 12,
1963, in El Paso, Texas, to Paul and
Audrey Opal (Eatmon) Bowers. She was
employed at the Panama Tote-A-Poke. She
was preceded in death by her father; sister,
Julie Emmert; and her grandparents, John
and Annie Dell Eatmon.
Survivors include her daughter, Emily Tedder of the
home; loving companion, Richie Tedder of Panama;
mother, Audrey Opal Bowers of Buck Creek; three sisters,
Ginger Esparza of Las Cruces, N.M., Pam Paul of Hackett,
