BROKEN ARROW â In the regular season finale for the Panama Razorbacks, they suffered a 60-0 loss to Tulsa NOAH (Tulsa Home School) Friday night.
STIGLER â The Spiro Bulldogs were needing some help to make it into the playoffs besides beating the Stigler Panthers in Friday night's District 3A-8 contest.
Spiro needed either Valliant or Idabel to lose its game and the âDogs to beat the Panthers to make the playoffs. It did not happen.
Stigler nipped Spiro 34-27 to improve to 9-1 overall and 6-1 in district play as it prepares for the Class 3A playoffs.
VIAN â Last year, the Talihina Golden Tigers defeated the Vian Wolverines 34-25 at Doc Robinson Stadium to win the District 2A-6 title. In 2011, things were a little different.
The Wolverines, ranked fourth in Class 2A, handled the Golden Tigers on their home turf 56-6 to cap a perfect regular season â and head into the playoffs as the district champion.
The Carl Albert State College Vikings will began a new tradition, as they will open their 2011-12 basketball season in the Oklahoma-Texas Shootout at Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford.
In their first game, they will play Clarendon, Texas, at 4 p.m. this afternoon. In their second game, they will play Howard, Texas, which is preseason ranked eighth in the NJCAA Poll, at 4 p.m. Sunday.

LEFLORE â Leflore Basketball Coach Todd Hackler said that Thursday night's home game with Red Oak was going to be a test for his Savages. While his team didn't get an A+, Hackler did give his team a passing grade.
The Savages never gave up, but in the end suffered a 60-51 defeat to the Eagles.
In the girls' game, the Lady Eagles were too much for the Lady Savages in a 64-22 victory.
LEFLORE â For Leflore Basketball Coach Todd Hackler, he will do something he has not done in quite a while â coach both boys and girls teams. But thanks to Assistant Coach Tony Marris, Leflore's baseball coach, Hackler believes that he can once again handle both duties.
From his Savage team's perspective, Hackler sees his team as a sleeping giant.
âI think we have a special group here,â said Hackler, whose boys' team is 1-1 so far on the young season. âWe have a group that will be pretty solid.â
The Whitesboro Bulldog basketball players will have a different coach for the first time in quite a while. After being coached in fall and spring baseball by Bryan Cartwright, Cartwright stepped away from the boys basketball coaching job to take the reins of the Lady Bulldogs this hoop season.
That allowed for a homecoming of sorts for Wayne Tucker, who is a Talihina High School graduate who had been living in Edmond, as he is now the boys basketball coach this season.
