Senior running back anxious to see Poteau football team bounce back with upset of Tulsa Cascia Hall

The Poteau Pirates football team put a lot into last week's homecoming game with the Fort Gibson Tigers. After going toe to toe with them, the Pirates ended up falling 49-21. Poteau senior running back Michael Reynolds said it was a somber mood in the locker room after the game.
“It was sad,” Reynolds said. “We know we can't let it get the better of us. We have to get ready to go this week.”

PKMS football teams split road games at Broken Bow

BROKEN BOW — The Pansy Kidd Middle School football teams split their final road games of the season Tuesday at Memorial Stadium against the homestanding Broken Bow Savages.
The seventh-grade Raiders posted a 42-28 win over the Savages, who took the eighth-grade contest by a score of 28-13.
The PKMS teams will return to action in their season finales at 5 p.m. Tuesday against McAlester at Costner Stadium. The seventh-grade game will lead things off, followed by the eighth-grade game and the freshmen game at approximately 7 p.m.

Panama girl becomes youngest ever to take Oklahoma bear

The young hunter that takes the cake this hunting season is Lani Monks, an 11-year-old young lady from Panama. Lani is the daughter of Jeff and Kim Monks. She was hunting with her dad, who has taken her hunting since she was age 4.
Lani took her first deer two years ago, and took two deer last year, from the ground without a ground blind. Anyone who has bow hunted knows how tough that is.

GTCT presents "The Jungle Book"

Actors will take the stage this week and bring alive Disney's "The Jungle Book."

Arkoma seeks second straight win in non-district football road game against Eagle Point Academy

If ever there was a team which was needing a win, one such team was the Arkoma Mustangs.
After the Mustangs had lost three straight District C-4 games to be in dire straits of making the playoffs, along came a thrilling 44-36 win over the Midway Chargers last Friday night at Mustang Field on homecoming.
“The kids were really excited,” said Mark Weatherton, Arkoma's coach. “It was a great football game. The crowd was into it. It had been three tough weeks for us. To get a win in the fashion we did, scoring with 36 seconds left, it felt good.”

Panama Razorbacks football team glad to get first win of season, prepare for Quinton Savages Friday night

The Panama Razorbacks football team was able to get its first win of the season last Friday night as it posted a 33-30 District 2A-6 road win over the Antlers Bearcats. It was a good win, but still had a lot to be desired in the mind of Brandon Ellis, Panama's second-year coach.

Bokoshe Tigers football team glad to get first win of season, but disappointed in not getting chance to meet District C-4 leader Thackerville Friday night

BOKOSHE — The good news last Friday night for the Bokoshe Tigers football team was it got its first win of the season, downing Eagle Point Academy 36-18.
“We were glad that we got the win,” said Tyler Massey, Bokoshe's second-year coach. “We played well for four quarters.”
The win was the best game the Tigers played since their season opener in a 48-34 loss at home to Oaks, where the visiting Warriors broke a 34-all tie with two touchdowns in the game's final four minutes.

PHS freshmen keep football winning streak going with home win over Broken Bow

The Poteau Pirates freshmen football team was trying to keep their winning streak intact on a crisp autumn Monday night at Costner Stadium against the Broken Bow Savages.
After a slow start, the Pirates were able to get some big plays en route to a 22-6 victory — and keep their record unblemished.
The Pirates will conclude their season at approximately 7 p.m. Tuesday at Costner Stadium as they will entertain the McAlester Buffaloes to try to cap another perfect season. The game will follow the Pansy Kidd Middle School seventh- and eighth-grade games, which will begin at 5 p.m. Tuesday.

Bandit League football teams split games against Greenwood Blue

GREENWOOD, Ark. — The Poteau Bandit League football teams split their four games Saturday against the Greenwood Blue teams.
The fifth-grade team shut out the opposition 36-0, while the third-grade team edged Greenwood Blue 6-0 in double overtime.
Greenwood Blue took the sixth-grade game 33-12 and the fourth-grade contest 27-6.
