It's the first full week of January, and basketball fans in LeFlore County know what that means. Its's LeFlore County Junior High Tournament Week.
Action began Monday afternoon at tournament-host Monroe as well as Howe and Wister. Carl Albert State College's Mick Thompson Fieldhouse will join in as a fourth site of action today.
Everything will culminate with the title games at 6 p.m. (girls) and 7:15 p.m. (boys) Saturday at Mick Thompson Fieldhouse.

A Cameron man was arrested Sunday morning after fleeing from Rock Island police.
Duane Ray Bryant, 26, of Cameron was arrested on charges of driving under the influence - 2nd of subsequent offense, felony elluding a police officer, possession of a loaded firearm in commission of a felony, driving on the wrong side of the road and failure to stop for a stop sign. He was also charged with two counts of reckless endangerment for his two passengers during the pursuit.
Jury selection in the trial of a man accused of abusing his children began Monday morning at the LeFlore County Courthouse.
James Haskin, 61, of Monroe, was arrested in November 2011 after investigators alleged nine children were being neglected and some of them sexually abused by Haskin. Haskin's wife Lucinda was also arrested in connection with the allegations.
Jury selection is expected to continue until Tuesday and trial to begin on Wednesday.

We left Poteau around 8:30 a.m. Saturday, excited and ready to enjoy our four days on the road.
The trip to West Memphis, Ark., where we were staying, seemed to fly by. We arrived at the hotel around 2:30 p.m, got checked in, freshened up some and headed across the Mississippi River bridge to Memphis, Tenn.

Sunday Couple Scrambles at Wolf Ridge Golf Course will take place at 2 p.m. Sundays.
The entry fee is $15 per person for the nine-hole weekly event.
ARKOMA â€” The 2013 portion of the basketball season got off on the right foot for the Arkoma Mustangs Thursday night as they picked up a home victory over the Wister Wildcats by the score of 46-37.
The Mustangs jumped out to a 4-1 lead and never trailed. They enjoyed a 12-6 lead after one period.
However, the Wildcats stayed close as Adrian Gonzalesâ€™ steal and lay-up with 26 seconds left before halftime cut Wisterâ€™s deficit to 20-13 at halftime. However, that was as close as the â€™Cats got.
ARKOMA â€” A tough night shooting doomed the Wister Lady Wildcats as they suffered a 62-44 loss to the Arkoma Lady Mustangs on Thursday night at the Arkoma Gym.
The Lady â€™Cats missed 19 shots in the first half, which led to them being down 19-7 after one period and being shutout 15-0 in the second quarter to trail the Lady Mustangs by 27 points, 34-7, at the break.
Wister did open the second half with a 9-4 run to cut the deficit to 38-16, but Arkomaâ€™s lead was never seriously in jeopardy.
MONROE â€” Although the 2013 LeFlore County Junior High Tournament does not begin officially until Monday, the two play-in games for the main draw took place Friday afternoon at the Monroe Public Schools gym.
The Cameron Lady Yellowjackets defeated the Shady Point Lady Warriors 35-24, while the Bokoshe Tigers were too much for Shady Point's boys in a 43-19 victory.
The Lady Yellowjackets will play top-seeded Howe at 7:15 p.m. Monday at the Howe gym, while the Tigers willo face No. 1-seeded Wister at 8:30 p.m. Monday at the Wister gym.
