This is LeFlore County Junior High Tournament week, and the Wister boys and girls are having a good week so far. Both teams are in the semifinals Friday night and both will be playing Spiro. If you get a chance come on out and watch these kids play.

HOWE â€” The Howe Lady Lions bounced back from Friday nightâ€™s first-ever loss at their current home with a 48-34 victory over the Bokoshe Lady Tigers on Tuesday night.
The Lady Lions doubled the Lady Tigers in the opening period, 12-6, and stretched their lead to 21-10 at halftime and 32-16 by the end of three periods.
Arkoma 60, Cameron 34: In Cameron, the Lady Mustangs jumped out to 14-0 lead after one period and never looked back.
Panama 58, Wister 49: In Wister, the Lady Razorbacks jumped out to a 17-2 lead after one period and kept the Lady Wildcats at bay.
CAMERON â€” The Cameron Yellowjackets got a comeback Green Valley Conference home win Tuesday night as they defeated the Arkoma Mustangs 64-52.
The Yellowjackets trailed 15-11 after one period, but then outscored the Mustangs 53-37 over the final three quarters to get the come-from-behind victory.
Howe 68, Bokoshe 17: In Howe, the Lions put the game away early by outscoring the Tigers 31-3 in the first quarter.
All 15 players scored for the Lions.
CL Williams, 84, of Reichert died Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2013, in Fort Smith, Ark. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 11, at Dowden Funeral Home Chapel in Heavener with burial in Reichert Cemetery.
Mike Jandayan, 76, of Howe died Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2013, in Howe. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 11, at Dowden Funeral Home Chapel in Heavener. Burial will be in the U.S. National Cemetery in Arvin, Calif.
Irene Carrier, 82, of Spiro died Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2013, in Fort Smith, Ark.Â Graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 11, at Spiro City Cemetery under the direction of Grace Manor Funeral Home of Spiro.
The trial of James Haskin, of Monroe, began Wednesday morning at the LeFlore County Courthouse.
Haskin was charged with nine counts of child neglect and three counts of child sexual abuse stemming from a 2011 investigation.
On Wednesday morning a jury of five women and seven men took their place in the jury box as testimony from witnesses called by the state was heard.
Testimony was given by three law enforcement investigators involved in the case along with an investigator with the Child Welfare Division of the Oklahoma Department of Human Service.
There will be a new girls county championship team as the Wister Lady Wildcats knocked off last year's champions, the Poteau/Pansy Kidd Middle School Lady Raiders 21-18 Tuesday afternoon in the 2013 LeFlore County Junior High Basketball Tournament at Carl Albert State College's Mick Thompson Fieldhouse.
The 2013 tournament's top-seeded girls team, the Howe Lady Lions, advanced with a 25-14 victory over Talihina, while the fifth-seeded Monroe Lady Eagles upset fourth-seeded Heavener 30-28.
MONROE â€” The Spiro Lady Bulldogs, who are seeded 10th in the 2013 LeFlore County Junior High Tournament, are quickly becoming the Cinderellas this season's annual event.
For the second straight day, the Lady Bulldogs pulled off an upset. After knocking off No. 7 Bokoshe on Monday afternoon at the Monroe gym, they returned to the same site and did likewise in posting a 33-29 victory over second-seeded Hodgen in the championship quarterfinals.
The three other games here were boys quarterfinals, and the two top-seeded teams posted wins.
