The Board of Trustees for the Poteau Industrial Authority, Poteau, Oklahoma will meet at & p.m. on Monday, April 2, 2012 at Poteau City Hall, 111 Peters St., Poteau, Oklahoma for a Regularly scheduled meeting.

1. Invocation.
2. Call to order.
3. Roll call.
4. Consideration/action to accept and approve consent agenda:
A. Approve minutes for the March 5, 2012 meeting.
B. Approve payment of purchase orders as signed and approved by the finance committee.
C. Approve acceptance of department reports.
D. Approve budget transfers for the month of March 2012.

Top seeds at Wister Tournament all win to make semifinal games; Talihina pitcher has perfect three-inning game

WISTER — Run-rule games were the order of the day and night on the opening day of the Wister Tournament on Thursday.
Tournament-host Wister defeated Howe 9-0 in a game stopped after four innings, which was followed by an 8-0, five-inning, run-rule win for the Red Oak Eagles over the Keota Lions.
In the night session, Talihina blanked Hartford, Ark., 12-0 in three innings, then the Whitesboro Bulldogs run ruled the Heavener Wolves 10-2 in five innings.

FORT SMITH, Ark. — A questionable call which went against the Poteau Pirates spelled doom for the locals as it allowed the Fort Smith Southside Rebels to continue a seventh-inning rally to pull out a 10-9 victory Thursday afternoon.

Cameron boys win, Panama boys lose at Crowder Tournament

CROWDER — The Cameron Yellowjackets made it to Friday's championship semifinals with a 3-2 come-from-behind win over the Muldrow Bulldogs Thursday afternoon in the Crowder Tournament.
The ’Jackets were in the semifinals Friday night with the chance at playing for the championship at 4 p.m. this afternoon against the winner of Friday's other semifinal between Wilburton and Hartshorne. A loss tonight will drop them into the third-place game against the Wilburton-Hartshorne loser at 2 p.m. this afternoon.

WISTER — The Wister Lady Wildcats and the Whitesboro Lady Bulldogs posted wins over the Spiro Lady Bulldogs in Thursday's three-way.
The Lady ’Cats held off Spiro 9-8, while Whitesboro beat Spiro 9-1 in a battle of Lady Bulldogs. Whitesboro and Wister played a junior varsity game.
In Wister's win over Spiro, the Lady Wildcats broke an 8-8 tie with a run in the sixth inning on Kylee Carpenter's RBI single to get the win.
In Whitesboro's win over Spiro, after single runs in the first two innings, Whitesboro broke open the game with a six-run third inning for an 8-0 lead.

Carl Albert baseball team splits with Seminole State

March 31, 2012

A seventh-inning rally in the second game of Thursday afternoon's doubleheader at Ival Goodman Field lifted the Carl Albert State College baseball team to a 4-3 victory over Seminole State College in a battle of top 20 teams.
In the opener, the 10th-ranked Trojans blanked the 17th-ranked Vikings 2-0.
The Vikings will return to action this afternoon in a single, nine-inning game against archrival Eastern Oklahoma State College at 2 p.m. in Wilburton.

CASC softball team suffers losses at Seminole State

SEMINOLE — The Seminole State College Belles swept a doubleheader from the Carl Albert State College softball team Thursday afternoon by scores of 9-1 and 9-0.
The Lady Vikings will return to action this afternoon as they travel to meet Arkansas Baptist for a 1 p.m. doubleheader in Little Rock, Ark.

High School Boys Golf Roundup

March 31, 2012

FORT SMITH, Ark. — The Poteau Pirates golf team came in second at the Roland Invitational at Ben Geren Golf Course Thursday afternoon.
The Pirates shot a 320, finishing one team stroke behind champion Fort Gibson (319).
The Pirates had three medalists on the day. Cody Shore was fourth-place medalist (77), Connor Wheat was fifth-place medalist (a career-best 78) and Jarrett Lowrimore tied for ninth-place medalist (career-best 80).
Trey Wells and John Scott Sanders each carded 85s.
The Heavener Wolves also participated in the tournament and had a team score of 424.
