STILWELL — The Poteau Rebels got off to a blazing start to begin the 2012 OK Kids PeeWee Regional Tournament on Monday. The Rebels routed the tournament's host, the Stilwell Cardinals 15-1 in three innings.
The Rebels were slated to play in the wininer's-bracket semifinals Tuesday night, with another win putting them into the winner's-bracket final at 4:30 p.m. Friday.
Things did not start well for the Rebels, however, as they fell behind 1-0 in the opening inning, but Stilwell's lead was very short lived.
HEAVENER — The good news on Monday night was the Heavener Thunder, the host team for the 2012 OK Kids Coach-Pitch Regional Tournament at Blues Park, won its opening-round game.
However, the not-so-good news was two other LeFlore County teams, the Whitesboro Bulldogs and the Wister Wildcats, suffered losses.
The Thunder doubled up the Hartshorme Miners 14-7 to make it to Tuesday night's winner's-bracket semifinal against the Muldrow Bulldogs, which outlasted Whitesboro 14-10. Tuesday night's winner will play in the winner's-bracket final at 8 p.m. Thursday.
ATOKA — The Poteau Bombers lived up to their name in Monday afternoon's winner's-bracket quarterfinals of the 2012 OK Kids Coach-Pitch Regional Tournament.
The Bombers bombed the tournament-host Atoka Cubs 18-0 to advance to a Thursday winner's-bracket semifinal contest against the Caddo Bruins, who edged the Byng Red Sox earlier in the day.
The Poteau-Caddo winner will play the Vian-Coalgate winner in the winner's-bracket final at 5 p.m. Friday, with that winner making it to the 5 p.m. Saturday title game — and a win away from state.
PRESTON — The Spiro Reds OK Kids Coach-Pitch baseball team could not have started the 2012 Regional Tournament any better than the way the Reds did so on Monday.
The Reds got a pair of run-rule, three-inning 13-0 victories over the Dewar Dragons and the Meeker Bulldogs.
The Reds were slated to play the Tecumseh Blackhawks Tuesday night for a berth into the 5 p.m. Friday winner's-bracket final. The ’Hawks outlasted the Henryetta Bombers 25-21.
Friday Couple Scrambles will take place at 5:30 p.m. every Friday at Wolf Ridge Golf Course.
