There were many Poteau Youth Wrestling Club members who placed in their final 2012 tournaments of the year.
At the Glenpool Novice Tournament, several members participated, with five of them placing.
Parker Killion and Ethan Carey took first place in their respective weight divisions. Dakota James and Jaxon Jordan were third, and Blake Deadmon placed fourth. Others participating but not placing were Talan Fairless, Remington Reed, Hayden Moro, Drew Moro and David Stoughton.
OKLAHOMA CITY â€” After regaining the best record in the National askBetball Association, the Oklahoma City Thunder looked rather sluggish against the Brooklyn Nets on Wednesday night at Chesapeake Energy Arena â€” at least during parts of the game.

Jeffery Thomas Douglas, JR. will face trial for three counts of assault with a dangerous weapon.
Special District Judge Jeff Singer ruled that there was probable cause to prosecute Douglas for the stabbings which occurred at Jimmy's Somewhere Else Bar west of Panama on State Highway 31.
Douglas will appear in district court before Judge Jon Sullivan on January 30,
A wreck usually is the last thing a rescue worker wants.
Now they want a good one, or even more.
Area firefighters plan to hold a training exercise in February and are looking for vehicles to teach rescuers how to remove trapped or injured victims.
"We are in need of any type of vehicle one would want to donate," said B.J. Barnes, Poteau Fire Department safety and training officer. "We often do not to perform proper 'hands on' extrication training due to a lack of vehicles.
Carolyn Sue Troxler, 69, of Panama died Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2013, in Panama.
She was born April 1, 1943, in Martha to Earl â€śBudâ€ť and Mildred (Callen) Moody.Â She was a homemaker, a loving mother and grandmother.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Jimmie Moody.
Christopher Edward Grindstaff, 25, of Poteau died Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2013, in Baton Rouge, La.
Chris was born Feb. 5, 1987, in Oklahoma City to Bruce and Diana (Johnson) Grindstaff. Chris was a fire alarm technician with J.E. Systems in Pocola. He was an Eagle Scout, Troop 30 in Poteau. Chris lived life to the fullest. He enjoyed every experience along the way. He loved his family and friends and he found a friend in everyone he met. Chris was preceded in death by his grandfather, Kenneth Johnson, and uncle, Todd Grindstaff.
Lorene â€śReneâ€ť Jones was born March 10, 1923, in Glendale in LeFlore County. She passed away peacefully with family at her side Dec. 25, 2012, in Gridley, Calif.
Lorene was a loving and giving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, daughter, aunt and friend. She was known for her homemade buttermilk biscuits with white and chocolate gravy. She was an avid gardener who loved canning her homegrown fruits and vegetables. She was a gifted quilter and made beautiful quilts for all her loved ones.Â Â
Earl Curry was born Feb. 6, 1935. to Isaac Frenzella â€śI.F.â€ť and Myrtle (Ellis) Curry in Fisk, Mo. He graduated to glory on Jan. 2, 2013, at the age of 77 years, 10 months, and 27 days at his home in Wister.
Earl was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, George Isaac, Elmo and wife Virginia, and Tolbert and wife Mary; brother-in-law, Ernest Walker; and sister-in-law Fannie Lou Curry. Earl was an elder of the Poteau Church of Christ. He worked for LeFlore County for 15 years; he was a carpenter for more than 40 years. He finished the 10th grade in Depoyster School in Missouri.
