McALESTER â€” The Whitesboro Bulldogs had a rough ending to the first-ever First National Bank Classic at the Southeast Expo Center. The â€™Dogs lost 60-51 in the third-place game Saturday after losing 57-52 to eventual champion Calera in Friday night's championship semifinals.
The Lady Bulldogs suffered a 53-47 loss to Pittsburg in the consolation championship Saturday afternoon.
Gustavia â€śGussieâ€ť Wright, 79, of Howe died Saturday, Dec. 13, 2014, in Fayetteville, Ark.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 17, at Dowden-Roberts Funeral Home Chapel in Heavener. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Family visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Christine Long, 65, of Howe died Friday, Dec. 12, 2014, in Fort Smith, Ark.
She was born July 2, 1949, in Heavener to Billy Joe and Della Mae (Davis) Cruse. She was retired from Bremner Cracker Co. where she was a case up packer.
Christine was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Phyllis Stewart; and a brother, William Cruse.
Dama Jacqueline Lindstrom, 83, of Fort Smith, Ark., formerly of Poteau died Friday, Dec. 12, 2014, in Fort Smith.

W.A. Busby, 74, of McAlester, formerly of Poteau died Monday, Dec. 15, 2014, at his residence in the Bugtussle area.
The Spiro Lady Bulldogs had a successful start to their basketball season as they won the Wilburton Tournament, downing the Stigler Lady Panthers 40-37 in Saturday nightâ€™s title game at the Wilburton Gym. The Lady Bulldogs reached the championship with a 40-36 victory over the host Wilburton Lady Diggers on Friday night.
The Poteau Lady Pirates and the Red Oak Eagles also claimed hardware on Saturday afternoon, each winning their consolation championship games. The Lady Pirates rallied to beat the Hartshorne Lady Miners 53-35, while the Eagles held off the Eufaula Ironheads 52-45.
CAMERON â€” Both Howe teams were seeded No. 1 coming into the third annual Green Valley Conference Tournament, and thatâ€™s exactly â€śHoweâ€ť they finished.
The Lions defeated the tournament-host Cameron Yellowjackets 54-36 in Saturday nightâ€™s finals after beating Wister 62-55 in Friday nightâ€™s championship semifinals. Cameron made the finals with a 67-54 victory over Arkoma in Fridayâ€™s other championship semifinal.
The Wildcats defeated the Mustangs 70-59 in Saturdayâ€™s third-place game.
The 2015 LeFlore County Tournament seeding meeting will be Wedmesday night at the Howe High School cafeteria. The Lions and Lady Lions are this season's host teams.
