Girls are needed to play for an age 12-and-younger softball team in the Green Country Softball League. Games will take place at the Poteau Area Recreational Complex.
The team will practice in Cameron.

The Poteau Lady Pirates softball program will have an age 6-7 coach-pitch league beginning in May and end its season in June.
Players must have been age 7 by Jan. 1, 2012, or must turn age 6 by Jan. 1, 2013.
The entry fee is $150 per team, and the league is open to six teams.

Every 51 minutes, one person is dying due to an alcohol related crash. This statistic was dramatically demonstrated to Bokoshe students Wednesday afternoon during Bokoshe Public Schools drunk driving awareness day.
Arkoma Chief of Police Daniel New and Arkoma police officer John Buszek spent the day at the high school educating students on the dangers of drunk driving. A short presentation was given during the morning and the all day, the Grim Reaper stalked the halls, pulling students out of class to represent a death due to an alcohol related accident.
MUSKOGEE â€” Poteau Lady Pirate golfer Hannah Ward was runner-up medalist at Wednesday's Oktaha Tournament. The Poteau sophomore shot a 77, coming in seven shots behind top medalist Kailey Campbell of Oktaha who shot a 70.
As a team, the Lady Pirates were third with a score of 367, finishing behind champion Henryetta (361) and Idabel (362).
As for other Lady Pirates, Addie Guthrie carded a 94, with Cathleen Manlove a shot behind at 95. Paitton Callery had a 101, while Skylynn Terry had a 109.
There were 21 teams and 110 individuals in the field.
HEAVENER â€” The Heavener High School soccer teams split their home games with Mena, Ark., Wednesday at Harvey Stadium. The Wolves rallied from a 1-0 halftime deficit to down Mena 3-2, but the Lady Wolves were shut out 2-0.
After the Wolves complete playing in the Stilwell Tournament today, both Heavener teams return to district play next Friday at Fort Gibson. The girls' game will be at 5:30 p.m., followed by the boys' contest at 7:30 p.m.
HEAVENER â€” The Heavener Lady Wolves softball team suffered a pair of losses in Tuesday's home three-way, falling 5-1 to the Muldrow Lady Bulldogs and 20-4 to the Red Oak Lady Eagles.
The Lady Wolves completed play in the two-day Gore Tournament today.
GREENWOOD, Ark. â€” The Poteau High School track season got underway Monday afternoon at the Greenwood Bulldog Relays. The Pirates were fourth, while the Lady Pirates were fifth.
In the boys' division, Poteau had 71 points, finishing behind three Arkansas schools â€” champion Alma (142 points), Gentry (103) and Magazine (75).
The Lady Pirates scored 73 points to finish behind team champion Magazine (104.5 points), Waldron, Ark. (99), Mansfield, Ark. (96) and Roland (80).
Several Pirate and Lady Pirate individuals and relay teams, however, did win their events.
