ATOKA — After being only three wins from state entering Thursday's action at the 2012 OK Kids Coach-Pitch Regional Tournament, the season came to a crashing halt for the Poteau Bombers.
The Bombers lost their winner's-bracket semifinal 9-7 in seven innings to the Caddo Bruins on Thursday despite a home run from Landon Thornburg, then fell 8-6 to the Stigler Jets in the loser's-bracket quarterfinal later that night.

BENTONVILLE, Ark. — The good news was Thursday's road game against Bentonville started off good for the Eastern Oklahoma Riverdawgs Major American Legion baseball team. However, it was all Bentonville afterward as the host team posted a 13-1 victory over the Riverdawgs.
Stilwell's Zack Bean hit a sacrifice fly, scoring Spiro's Joe T. Ross, to make it 1-0 in favor of the ’Dawgs in the first inning, but that was it offensively for the locals.

I hope you all had a great Fourth of July. We went to the “Boom in the Valley” fireworks display at the Talihina Hospital, which was put on by the Choctaw Nation Tuesday night. It was a great show, and we didn't get home until 11:30 p.m. — that's way past my bedtime!
The next morning, we were up early because we rode in the Wister Fourth of July Parade in the Smith Chevrolet truck, throwing candy with Brittany “Happy” Frazier and A.J. McDaniel. We had a blast, and I swear I knew everybody there!
