TALIHINA â€” It was a rough start for the LeFlore County teams that were in the 2014 Choctaw Nation Invitational Tournament, which is taking place on Chris Gillespie Court at Ray Henson Gymnasium.
All of them lost on opening day Thursday, but all have a chance to win team plaques by the end of today.
Myrl Faye Christenberry, 82, of Bokoshe died Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2014, in Spiro.
Myrl was born Nov. 24, 1932, in Shady Point to Elton and Ruth (Lloyd) Richardson. She was a homemaker. Myrl was a member of Victory Worship Center, Spiro. She was a loving grandma. She loved her kids, grandkids and great-grandkids. She loved any sports the kids were in, especially Panama Razorbacks. She loved to crochet. Myrl was a member of a CB club and her handle was â€śSmokey.â€ť
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Buck and Bill Richardson; and sister, Jackie Taylor.
John Newell Polzin, 53, of Panama, formerly of Eagle River, Alaska, died Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2014, in Fort Smith, Ark. Memorial services will be held at a later date in Alaska. Evans and Miller Funeral home in Poteau is handling arrangements.

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) â€” Leaders representing multiple faiths could approach Gov. Mary Fallin for the chance to display religious icons at the Oklahoma governor's mansion after she invited a Christian group to erect a Nativity scene there, civil libertarians warned Friday.
Kathie Jackson, a retiree who formed the Nativity Committee of Tulsa, requested that the scene be displayed at the state Capitol, but said Fallin offered to have it put up on the mansion lawn. The scene was assembled Thursday.

Louis Philip Delavechia Guimaraes, 17, came to LeFlore County from his native Brazil on Jan. 6. Until he got here, the Brazilian youth had not had a chance to truly enjoy the outdoors.
While staying with the Ollie Banda family, Guimaraes has had a chance to fish, hunt and work the land.
Guimaraes will return to his native Brazil next week.
